Classic Savory - Ali Mall — Restaurant in Quezon City

Haven't dined in this restaurant for a few years now, especially lately because of the lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic. What I have done, though, was to get some take-out food from this restaurant several times these past few months.

I have bought from this restaurant their classic fried chicken, their noodles, lumpiang shangai, and some crab omelette.

The classic fried chicken is quite good because it is their specialty. It's the classic Chinese-style deep-fried whole chicken. Very tasty and the skin is crisp, but you have to eat it immediately in order to appreciate the crispiness.

The lumpiang shanghai is also quite good - one of the better tasting lumpiang shanghai available around Metro Manila. The crab omelette is also satisfying, and is a welcome change to the usual fare available in almost all fastfood Chinese restaurant. If you are avoiding meat, and want something more healthy, try this dish.

My favorite in this restaurant are their noodle dishes, and one particular noodle dish is the best for me - their Miki Bihon Binondo noodle dish. This is a wonderful dish of miki and bihon noodles cooked in a delicious sauce and mixed with pork, kikiam, even liver, and seafood balls. I love this simple yet tasty dish which brings one back to the flavors of old-time panciterias.

I just had the worst customer service experience ever with classic savory in cubao. I reserved 2 tables for 18 pax and when I came there, the two staff did not let me in. The guy staff kept insisting that I only reserved a table for 2 pax. I was explaining to him that if you make the reservation online, it will ask you to reserve a table but you will need to indicate for how many pax you're reserving the tables for. The staff could not understand what I was explaining- that the two (2) was for the table not the actual pax. I asked for the manager, and to my horror, she said the exact same thing. They obviously do not know how their own reservation works. Needless to say, they did not let us in. What was so disappointing was the fact that there were so many empty tables inside and the 2 staff did not even attempt to help us. I was so surprised that they would rather lose their customers than offer help (at least an attempt). Imagine, it was a bday celebration and there were 18 of us but they let us go just like that. They did even let other customers get in without reservations. What's the point of your reservation then??? They chose 2 pax over 18? It was the worst service ever!!! Food was ok, just don't expect much. Did not have the same taste as they had years ago.

The plates had an old rag smell, they probably dont wash the dish rag. I called it out politely and they changed the plates, but the plates still reeked. Water from the glass had a sour taste, probably wiped with the same dirty rag. Staff and PIC did not address this issue.

Lots of staff on a slow hour. Relatively slow service, only the intern was attentive. Not the worst experience but will get you mad if you're hungry.

The only justifiable reason to dine here is for the nostalgia.
