COCO ICHIBANYA - Vertis North — Restaurant in Quezon City

After watching Inside Out 2, my partner and I headed to Coco Ichibanya, a restaurant known for serving Japanese curry, which my partner was craving. The place is spacious and exudes a warm feeling from both the outside and inside.

We ordered the following:

1. Pork Cutlet Curry Standard] w/ Corn & 150g rice (₱400) The curry had some kick as I chose the standard level. The flavor was balanced, not too sweet or salty, and not overbearing. The standard rice portion is 250g, but if you're not very hungry, you can opt for 150g and get a ₱20 reduction in the price. The cutlet was rather chewy and took some effort to cut into smaller portions. / Corn in a cup, nothing much to rave about besides tasting like the ones you get from the can.

2. Pork Cutlet & Cheese Curry [Lv. 3 As someone who loves spiciness, the level she chose was decent for her sensitivity to the spice. The pork cutlet was rather soggy and didn't envelop the flavors of the curry that much.

Overall, while there are some improvements that can be made, we had a great time at Coco Ichibanya. They included a nod to Japanese culture with the packed wet towel in the cutlery holder. A slight dealbreaker for me is the portion-to-price ratio compared to competitors; I felt there are other dishes I could get more for the same price. There is a 5% service charge added to your bill, but you can feel the value as the staff was attentive to our needs, whether asked or not.

Kevel 5 and above makes curry darker brown instead of light brown Choose the side dish. You may choose a set side dishes instead of a separate one for lower cost, like a side dish set that comprises a small salad, ice cream, bacon soup, and a choice of drinks.

Their 2 rounded bread croquettes are soft. Its filling is a creamy white cheese.

I prefer turmeric rice, for healthy eaters, multi grain rice is available.

It has 5% service charge.

It is moderately expensive. The toilet is clean too.

Food ✅ So the food was pretty good actually! I would describe it as a comforting kind of delicious, there is something about some delicious rice wrapped in a bright yellow egg blanket-- then coated with some curry sauce and some fried meat. Honestly I've had better meals but for something filling and comforting I feel like this is something that I would go for, gets the job done and very enjoyable

Service ⚠️ This was really the only thing that brought this place down by 1 star, I would have given 5 stars if they actually had more people working. Even just by looking around I could tell the people around me were having a hard time getting their bills.

Anyway this is a 5 star place but just needs a bit more workers.
