Found this hidden gem today by accident. We saw that they had halo-halo and we decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a pleasant ambience even from the outside. It seems so chill and relaxing. We went here around 2:30 pm so it wasn't busy at all.
Its an old 1950's/60's house converted into a restaurant. Lots of tables as they maximized all the space of the old house into dining areas.
We had our dog with us, and we were happy that this place is very pet friendly. They utilized what I think was the former garage area into an al fresco area where customers with pets can stay. It's a very airy, bright and relaxing nook in the restaurant. I just love what they did there.
For the halo halo, I and my wife both ordered regular sizes of their halo halo overload. No exaggeration, but it's one of the best halo halo I've ever had. It's not too sweet nor too creamy, just right. The ingredients of this halo halo is different from the usual, its a lot of different stuff. The ingredients are also not too sweet but they are delicious and compliments each other well. One ingredient that made me love this version of halo halo is the melon shavings on top. Yummy and so tropical. This halo halo is a must try especially for those looking for a healthier version of halo halo. By the way, if one really wants a halo halo that has totally no table sugar, they have a guilt-free version too.
We also ordered a nacho salad. This dish is also a winner. Their nacho chips are very tasty. They're not the usual kind. The salad is composed of lettuce, diced apples, cucumber and corn kernels topped with what I think is Kewpie Jaoanese sesame dressing. This nacho salad is delicious and healthy.
By the way, they also give customers a free bowl of popcorn while waiting for their food orders. Fantastic.
Parking is relatively...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here at lunchtime, and I was excited to try their unique halo-halo flavors.
For the mains, we ordered the crispy bagnet kare-kare and classic palabok. The kare-kare (good for 2-3 persons) was flavorful and came with vegetables such as string beans, bok choy, banana blossom, and eggplant. It was paired with bagoong that had just the right amount of saltiness and a slight sweetness. I think they could improve the crispiness of the pork skin, though. As for the palabok, it was the usual version. They could elevate it by using fresh seafood like shrimp or squid instead of squid balls.
For dessert, we tried the Summer Fruity Halo-Halo and the Ube Mochi Pastillas. I really loved the combination of fresh fruits, it was refreshing and naturally sweet.
The staff were all very attentive when called and promptly refilled our glasses of water. They were efficient and showed great initiative. Special mention as well to the reception staff. I’m grateful that the management provides opportunities to a PWD. He helped us with parking and even offered an umbrella when it started to rain.
This is a must-try restaurant, especially for families and groups, so you can order and share more...
Read moreThe food is good. It is traditional lutong bahay that is a little elevated. My partner and I were satisfied.
We came on a Saturday during lunch. We understand that there will be more people dining and there are people waiting na. However, I think they are short-staffed & it felt like they’re running like headless chicken. The “starter” that we ordered didn’t arrive and we finished our mains. For our halo-halo, we had to follow up several times. Poorly coordinated staff although they were nice and smiling. I think they need to increase staffing during peak season and/or provide additional training. I think there’s no dining supervisor.
The ambience is okay. It feels like ho’e. Overall, food and ambiance is okay. Service, however, needs to be improved big time.
BTW- the staff also do not serve water proactively unless you...
