Had an good experience. The tatar is just incredible. Best dish on the menu for me.
Good food, but only disappointed that it is not authentic enough with the flavors. They mix too much sour cream into the guacamole, the salsa seems jarred because it has some sugar added to it so gives it a thick sort of consistency, the cheese for some of the dishes is the cheap generic kind. Is it delicious, YES. Its also not brave.
This place has been open since the late 90s or early 2000s back when Gdansk had no international food at all and since they have managed to keep such great business all these years they have not updated the menu enough to reflect how international food in Poland NOW, for NEW restaurants, are opened by younger people who have traveled abroad and learned how to make authentic dishes. This is Polish-Mexican. Its not spicy and uses some Polish substitutes which give the dishes less kick. The rice is soggy, somewhat mushy , with sort of a tomato paste flavor.
In my experience restaurants that have been open so long and are successful enough don't feel the need to update their menus-- they cater to older Polish people who are afraid of spices and don't need to compete for business.
Their margaritas are good, but just average. The kick of real lime is missing, a higher grade of tequila (not Sierra, if that's the one they are using, which no one in Mexico had heard of) and the salt rimmed glasses are not crushed chunky salt but the salt is over fine. Too small pieces.
Do I recommend this place, yes. Do I hope some days the owners children, who I imagine have more experience in authentic Mexican food take over for mom and dad and add some authentic dishes and cocktails to the menu because mom and dad or whoever owns it had become too comfortable with keeping the same dishes since before Poland joined the European Union where "Mexican pizza" meant "add corn?" YES. I've been trying this place since they opened waiting for them to finally update after 20 years. Come on guys you're making bank!
Opportunity to become one of the best places in Gdansk, but you franchised instead and kept some bland menu items and saved money on average guacamole and salsa, which, if done correcty could radically improve your menu.
Amazing service. Amazing location. Mid-range price, so I'm OK with it (some things too expensive others perfect), food IS delicious so I recommend this place despite...
Read moreI had a family event and was delegated to pick the restaurant and choose a menu. I don't know too many restaurants in Gdańsk. Pueblo was and is on my list of favorites, with a little criticism i see here and there. First of all (five stars) - preparing for the event took couple of phone calls. They handled patiently many calls to pic the right time to accommodate many people on my list. After settling this they were very helpful with the choices we made to get right appetizers and dishes we ended up picking. We all like a lot the idea of 'common table'. All 10 appetizers (5 stars) and three dishes(5 stars) are still prized by the people who attended. And believe me - some of them are a little 'picky'. All dishes seemed to be cooked right before serving appetizers - even those which were deep fried - were light, fluffy and first of all tasty. No need for offered sauces, which were great anyway. Among great salsas no plain sour creme here, just two great creamy sauces. We opted out of 'spicy-hot' and they were very accommodating. All the basic things were covered. The taste of all dishes was great, the deserts super-tasty. I didn't even order my favorite seafood soup which I usually eat when I go there. It is another well kept secret - I don't see it in the reviews, but it is a delight! The only problem it is not-so-cheap prices. Of course I don't blame them - all is worth going there, but for some people it can be on the 'pricey' side. One criticism: Grande Mojito - which is really huge, has little too much ice, not enough rum (and is very tasty) - on the expensive side.
So in one sentence. I will go there again, and again if I want 'Sure shot' - when visitors want to taste something else...
Read moreIt was our second time at this restaurant, and their waitress or administrator Natalya was absolutely unprofessional and ruined our good impression after the first time. We were sitting at the terrace and bees literally attacked our drinks, it was impossible to eat there and enjoy the atmosphere, we asked to change the table but she didn’t want to change it, eventually we made it but after some time bees returned. So in between us fighting with bees, some people already went inside and after some bee just sank in the cocktail, we asked to take it away. But when we paid we found out that this cocktail was included in the bill though less than 1/3 wad drunk before some bee committed suicide in it. We asked why did we have to pay for it, Natalya said that it was our choice to sit outside and we had to pay anyway, though our waitress showed Natalya that there was almost the whole glass of a cocktail with a dead bee in it. Natalya behaved really rude and aggressive and didn’t take any steps towards solving the situation, all she was saying was that it was our choice to seat outside and that we drank that cocktail. Our impression was absolutely ruined because of this poor service. We didn’t even think that such situation can even be possible in 2023. If only she behaved nicely and tried to apologise or something else, it would change everything, but as for now such people shouldn’t be working at service because they just...
