Gan bei Chmielna — Restaurant in Warsaw

Food is really good, atmosphere is very nice. Normal I would say. The only problem is the service. We entered the restaurant- we got the menus and a table for us and this is where we sat for 30 min. Waitress said that she will come back to us in 1 min - she came back after another 10 min -15 min. She apologised so we moved on. Then we placed the order and it came pretty fast but we got the wrong dish, we returned it and we waited another 15 min to replace it for the one we ordered. The waitress asked me if I want a lemon in my cola and she got me a cola without a lemon, I decided to just ignore it and move on, but then I realised that I don’t have a straw in my drink (it is still okay in some places because of the environment) so I asked if I could get one, my dish came some time after that and no straw. I asked again and another person brought it later….the waitress has asked me before if I want the long one or the short one…what is the point of that question if it never came after all and the second person that actually brought me the drink just got me 2 paper straws without asking that. The waitress came back 2 times to ask if we liked the food - since the food was nice I said that it was really nice but I don’t see the point of that question 2 times in the same restaurant with the...

I had an early Sunday lunch here with a friend (in fact, we were the first customers of the day). Staff were not overly friendly, so I didn't feel that welcome on arrival, but the interior is very impressive and we had a nice table.

Menu is huge and well-presented. However, they only had a limited selection of beer that day and couldn't provide what we wanted. Instead we had the Japanese beer Asahi (though I wouldn't recommend it, as it's far too dry). Prices are quite expensive, so your meal won't be cheap.

Anyway, I chose Peking duck and rice with prawns & pork. My friend had sea bass with plain rice. After about a half hour wait, the rice arrived – and it wasn't very warm. We then waited another 10 minutes for the main courses. They were very tasty, but by now the rice was cold, so I didn't finish it.

I saw a waiter struggling to communicate with the kitchen staff, so maybe that was a reason for the strange timings of our food.

We skipped coffee and dessert.

Overall, a bit of a mixed experience. If you're coming here, make sure you tell them that you want your food to arrive at...

I dined in with 2 loved ones on a special night, and long story short, the manager at the time (September 24th 2025) whom was a very nice lady made it up to us after a small misunderstanding regarding a menu item. We thought we ordered noodles, though we were wrong, they just looked like noodles on the picture and we misunderstood it. Then when we called the manager over (because our waiter was not on sight at the moment) to kindly ask her to take the unwanted plate of food back and replace it with a new menu item that we wanted, and she happily did.

Her tone of voice along with her attitude was very calm, cooperative and friendly 👍

At the end, she didn’t charge us for neither the initial unwanted menu item nor the other corrected item that we replaced it with. That was a very outstanding gesture of her even though we were the ones who didn’t read the menu item description carefully.

Never seen this treatment anywhere else, thank you to whomever...
