With flavour palette being less than enjoyable this place needs to get better before I can give more than 2 stars.
It does look ok... From the outside. Inside if like me you dining solo, there's much space to sit comfy and enjoy experience. They tried maximise space for profit and failed to make customers feel good. But that's just beginning of a disaster that was yet to happen. Starting from drinks shall we? Kombucha had only one flavour. Yerba mate. Had i my life many Kombucha but flavoured never and thought I'll try it. Well I should better ask for tap water. Not sure where they getting thier supplies but it's worth changing. Let's try miso soup.
Oh dear lord. aroma and flavour of the soup itself wasn't that bad. But then there was tofu and I want to belive it was wakame. I can't say what it was as it was over boiled and tasteless. If was green at some point for sure. In my bowl it had colour and flavour of wallpaper. And don't ask me how do i know how wallpaper tastes like. Tofu was way to soft and yes I know you can actually buy soft tofu. With this one I'm wondering did they tried it before or just thought - sod it, it will do.
Oh and there was cook or cook helper that was on his mobile while there was nothing else to do. In the kitchen area. I'll sound like a hypocrite but if you know there's clear view from where customers are eatiyto your working place... Surely you could better place to stand and browse social media. If I don't see what you do it doesn't bother me. But if I do I'm expecting highest standards!
Few pieces of Sashimi was served with what in my opinion was not a real wasabi. Not sure if they just buy ready made or doing it themselves. This one definitely had really really strong taste and it could be used to wake up people from coma. So strong that I belive it was based on horseradish. Or horseradish was big part of it. What it did was killing taste and flavour of Sashimi. But then it wasn't the best either. I ate in Dans le noir. Place where you eat in darkness. Where you don't see what you have so you have to use other senses. Here food looks nice but there's no 'after shock' to follow up. The whole experience is based on how it looks, but flavours are disappointing. Going with that fish didn't have its raw flavour either. Of you ever had raw fish and it was freshly sliced you have that gorgeous after taste. You eating meat that bit you also have strong flavour from it. The more fresh is the meat the better taste. Sadly I can't say this was the case here. No i m not going to say fish was not fresh. It simply lacked what fresh raw meat should taste like.
And fact I had some comments behind my back of how I use chopsticks doesn't change ratings to lower. I know I can't. But maybe next time keep if...
Read moreUntil yesterday, I was a frequent visitor to Izakaya. I usually ordered the Tonkotsu Miso ramen. Yesterday, I didn’t see it on the menu and ordered the regular Tonkotsu instead. The ramen came with an unusually fatty broth and a strange sour taste. I thought it might be a recipe variation or an ingredient used in excess. I thought okay, seems just like this particular ramen just wasn’t to my taste and didn’t suspect anything was wrong. I ate less than half of it. But as soon as I got home, I felt unwell—nausea and weakness hit me. I realized that the broth was probably spoiled. The night ended with food poisoning, vomiting, and a ruined evening. How can they not check what they serve to guests?! This is complete disrespect toward customers. The worst part is that I had recommended this place to friends and acquaintances many times. I’ll never do that again. If you’re a customer here, be cautious of unusual tastes and make sure you’re not served...
Read moreThis place offers more than most when it comes to the overall restaurant experience by taking the saying "you eat with your eyes" to heart.
The decor of this restaurant was very impressive in my opinion by being detailed yet also clean and modern. Maybe its just the artificial blooming cherry blossom but I couldn't help looking around the entire time I was there.
The presentation of the sushi followed the decor by being simple but still very visually appealing through play of colors and textures. The chef's choice for the sashimi paired well together and was executed well. My tempura maki roll was delicious and had a nice light but very crispy coating. Despite being full, I wanted to order more.
The service was very nice and patient. My server checked on me several times throughout the evening.
If you are craving sushi or just a nice night out, I highly recommend Izakaya as it will certainly be a visit...
