The food is very good, but the service doesn’t match it at all. Staff are not well trained at all. We visited this place twice, the first time without a reservation and were seated by the bar area. The waiter was good and competent and suggested us to try the local/ traditional plates and so we did and ordered the beef tartar. We did not receive the beef tartar but the herring. We informed the waiter about this and he very kindly acknowledged his mistake and asked us if we liked the plate or would like to send it back. We hate wasting food so we ate it and he brought us a beef tartar as our original order which was very delicious as advised by him. When the bill arrived they charged us for both the herring and the tartar and we brought this to the attention of the waiter and he again acknowledged his mistake and offered us a bottle of beer to make up for his mistake. This situation was handled quite well and since the food was good we decided to give it another try and made a reservation in the restaurant. On the day of the reservation we ordered started to share, wine and water. Empty plates to share were never brought Water was never brought So I kindly asked the waiter for it again and he nervously apologised (which is understandable) I used to be a waitress in the UK and sometimes these things happen. The restaurant was not very busy. Now while we’re are still eating our starters the waiter comes and starts picking up the plates without asking us, so my husband told him we are not finished (we were clearly not finished) His reply: your main course is already ready! Excuse me??? Why is the main course ready while we’re still eating our starters either the kitchen was in a hurry to close or the waiter didn’t communicate that we were still eating. He places new cutlery on my side of the table crossing me while I was taking a morsel :| Now we’ve finished our mains and I was hoping to share a dessert instead the waiter just comes to our table collects our plates and asks us DO YOU WANT TO PAY?? What the hell!!!! Horrible...
Read moreRestauracja Piwnica Świdnicka in Wrocław is a place full of history and charm — from its vaulted interiors to the warm, rustic atmosphere, it immediately draws you in with its traditional Polish character. Our visit was filled with both delightful flavors and a few small surprises.
We started with żurek served in bread, which visually looked impressive and inviting. Unfortunately, the bread bowl itself was extremely overbaked and far too tough to enjoy — it was hard as a rock and impossible to eat. However, the soup inside was delicious, with a rich, hearty flavor and just the right level of tanginess that a good żurek should have. We also tried żurek in a regular bowl, which was just as tasty and much more convenient to enjoy.
Next came the shrimp in white wine sauce, which were absolutely delicious — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The steak made from pork tenderloin was also excellent — tender, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The cepeliny (potato dumplings) were served as a set of six small pieces — very tasty, though barely warm, which was a bit disappointing, as the flavor deserved better presentation.
To finish, we ordered a Polish-style cheesecake, and it was a real highlight — perfectly sweet, incredibly moist, and with a balanced richness that made each bite a pleasure. The combination of textures and subtle sweetness was truly memorable.
We also tried the beer tasting set, which offered a nice variety of flavors. However, the last beer in the set — brewed with cloves — was not to our taste at all. The clove flavor was too dominant and didn’t pair well with anything we had.
Overall, Piwnica Świdnicka offers a genuine Polish dining experience with thoughtful service, hearty dishes, and a cozy atmosphere. While there were a few things that could be improved — such as the overly hard bread bowl or the temperature of the dumplings — the strengths of the meal far outweighed the minor flaws.
It’s a place worth visiting for a taste of traditional cuisine in one of the most historic and atmospheric...
Read moreA huge disappointment! We went there with friends. We took our seats and started to read the menu as a couple came and took a table next to us. The menu seemed delicious and we were ready to order, but for some time no one was coming to take the order. Then finally somebody appeared but he took the order of people that came later than us. We thought: okay, probably our time will come soon. The minutes passed by, no waitress appeared, so when we saw a waitress next to us, we called her - she looked at us, but ignored us and passed by. We were thinking: they probably have a lot of work, we will wait. Some 5-10 minutes later we tried to talk to another waitress but again she avoided looking at us and just ran away. And then the couple next to us received food and drinks. I thought it was a bit unfair - they came later, they already managed to get food, we are still waiting to order. I stood up and went to the waitress by the bar, at first she was also ignoring me, but I finally managed to talk to her - she said she couldn’t take my order because she can only serve beer, but she’ll try to pass the information to someone else. When I was going back to my table I realized that the place was quite empty, there weren’t many clients, so I couldn’t explain the waiting time. Then again we waited next 5-10 minutes and saw a waitress, so again we talked to her - she said she couldn’t take our order at that moment and asked us to wait. And that was too much for us. It’s been around 40 minutes of waiting and being ignored by the service. We just left. Now, the place seemed nice, the menu looked great, but how can service behave like that? It never happened to me in any of the restaurants I’ve visited. Unfortunately, when I’m reading the reviews now, I’m not the only one with the exact same experience. I hope that a manager or an owner will read that and I wish that the things will change so this place could use its...
