Unfortunately a very disappointing treatment and experience after years of coming to the place as loyal customers.
The appetiser of calamari was somehow changed from a great dish to a huge chewy disaster that you can’t even cut with a knife properly. Their explanation was that it was a new, better ingredient. Who in the world would consider a huge, fat calamari more prestige than small rings. They’re talking to a person that was born on the Mediterranean and this calamari doesn’t exist in any sea close… Stop making dumb excuses.
Upon returning the dish the service said that the kitchen informed him this was done the right way and it’s fresh calamari (yeah right) so they will keep it on the bill after all. What kind of normal place doesn’t except a meal back? I’ve never saw that happen, especially for overpriced meals and spending 300pln.
After saying this makes no sense service insisted me and my wife to still pay for it so I guess they prefer to lose the customer forever than to actually fix this disaster ingredient and the dish, and have some common sense.
Duck sauce was filled with pepper to the point it lost taste and the filled pepper with cheese (another starter) had almost no cheese inside of it.
Not sure if their chef quit or is having a really bad day but I’m afraid this was my last visit.
I wish I had made a picture of the calamari after I spit it out as it was bubble gum. There was another table that ordered the same and I just felt sorry...
Read moreFor years this has been my favourite place in Wrocław! Whenever I’m there, I just have to pop in, even if it’s just for a quick lunch. This is why I have to update my review from 4 years ago as the circumstances have changed and now I started noticing some flaws. I recently came to Pod Papugami with 5 adults and two children under three. We wanted to sit outside and immediately were told we cannot join three tables together and we had to fit 8 people at two round tables or sit separately. Later on, while waiting for the food, we entertained my one year old by passing her around amongst the adults in the group and she’d end up on top of the table, bare foot. A condescending manager on duty came up to me and said “customers eat at those tables, do not put your child on top of them”. We got a high chair for the baby with no straps attached anymore so she’d crawl out of it constantly. I have been coming to Pod Papugami since 2005. I guess in the past the child friendliness of the place was not my concern but now I notice things like lack of crayons for children, faulty high chairs and staff that doesn’t realise parents are still paying customers, who would like to frequent their favourite restaurants without worrying that they are inconveniencing the staff. I’ll come back when my babies are older as the food is still exquisite and it’s in prime location when you’re...

This gem of a restaurant is hidden away behind SPIZ and you would easily miss it. They really should advertise it better.
We are here with my family and this was our 5th time.
Service again was by Rafa and he was excellent. Brilliant and attentive.
Food was good but not brilliant this time. We had the special Pork ribs with a bbq sauce on top. Was only OK. The ribs tasted boiled and the sauce was only put on at the end so didn't infuse with the meat. Chips and a salad with it. Grand
Zurek soup was lovely.
The Eaton mess dessert was not good. Way too much room temperature cream. Almost no meringue. Nothing like what an Eaton mess should be. We left it after 3 spoonfulls each.
Kids had chicken and it was delicious Partner had the chicken too and it was tasty. But the green beans tasted like they were cooked in rapeseed oil. Not good.
Usually this place is 5 stars for food. I will visit again and I hope it will be better.
But the service is great.
