Eating with the locals for as cheap as you can probably get anywhere near the historic city center. The food is down-home Portuguese cooking at it's best. Don't expect any hipster low-carb glutenfree stuff, but do come with an empty belly as the meals are generous and hearty. The tiny restaurant feels crowded but the attentive staff does their very best to make every single customer feel very welcome in this snug little place. Lovely back street restaurant serving a daily selection of simple but very tasty dishes - very much felt like homestyle Portuguese food with local ingredients. The lunch set menu is superb value for money with 3 courses and beer for no more than €10. A very welcoming diner with lots of locals at lunch hour. With 8.5 euro you get bread + soup + main + dessert + drink + coffee. The dishes are simple and made of cheap ingredients but are very delicious!
