The following difficult situation occurred, which was handled excellently:
We ordered a vegetarian menu (Gungjung Tteokboki), however the waiter made a mistake and brought us the carnivore version of it — so instead of tofu, it included pig meat.
My girlfriend and I both tried the food (as we still thought it was vegetarian) and as it tasted surprisingly similar to meat, decided to ask the manager / owner who was standing close-bye whether this really was tofu. He realised the mistake made by his employee, and explained the situation apologising several times. He then offered to bring us new food, which my girlfriend gladly accepted, whereas I decided to stay with what was already on the table. My girlfriend had not eaten meet for more than five years, which is why this situation was quite a shock to her.
Later on they also brought us a little Korean drink as a gift, and once again apologised. Additionally one vegetarian employee who heard of the situation, also came over quickly, and had a friendly chat with us.
All in all, I think the mistake made, could‘ve been prevented but is not completely incomprehensible. In this difficult situation the restaurant managed to show its competence and friendly way of dealing with customers! … oh and not to forget — the food was of course...

We took Tatebooki and it was absolutely wonderful, 9/10 slightly expensive but nevertheless worth it.
The potato corndog tasted mostly like fresh donut dough, but meat, cheese and sauces were there too (and it was rather fat as well) but it did suit our tastes, a 6.9/10. (5 is normal tasting food so it is still a strong number) we recommend taking one corndog for two people since it is bigggg.
The chicken... We tried three different. I would say the median for chicken pices is 8/10, my bestfriend says 7/10.
it was totaly random which chicken pieces you got and we had to play to get the meat out a looot.
*it was often juicy and flavourfull, but we would enjoy it more if there were some more of those nice sauces.
the drink we took cost 6 euros and was too sweet, at max 5/10. The rest of our order was on the expensive side, but still MUCH better than stockholm.
A very enjoyable experince, would recommend....
Read moreLast night, my partner and I decided to give Seoul Chicken a try right here in the heart of Coimbra, Portugal. Let me break it down for you.
The food, well, it was decent. It didn't exactly have us doing cartwheels, but it held its own. However, there's a little hiccup – the kimchi. The texture was a bit too soft, missing that delightful crunch we were hoping for.
But here's the good part – the staff deserves a shoutout. They speak English fluently and are quick on their feet, always ready to assist. Friendly service goes a long way.
Now, the location – right in the town center. You can't beat that convenience.
Now, let's talk food highlights. The ganjang chicken, which is like Korean-style chicken popcorn, was a hit. So were the tteokkochi, those fried rice pieces. But, here's where it gets interesting – the tteokboki didn't quite tickle our taste buds.
Oh, and we tried some Korean beer, but honestly, it felt a bit weak for our liking. But that's just personal preference.
So, Seoul Chicken didn't exactly rock our world, but it's a decent spot for a meal. If you're in Coimbra and have a hankering for Korean cuisine, it's worth giving it...
