Jacafé — Restaurant in Funchal

Beautiful interior, super friendly service—but I left feeling a bit scammed.

A latte in Funchal is usually around €1.50, and here it was €3—fair enough. But my iced latte somehow turned into €4.50: €0.50 for a flimsy paper takeaway cup that isn’t even made for iced drinks. €1 extra for choosing a normal latte-sized cup instead of a cappuccino one—something the menu conveniently forgot to mention.

I asked if the price hike was for a double espresso, they said yes… but my taste buds strongly disagree. So basically, I paid an extra euro for a couple of ice cubes and some milk.

Very cool atmosphere, friendly people, and one of the best coffee and craft beers in town. Don't leave the city without trying the tradicional requeijão cake and checking the lovely products from local artists and designers.
