Awesome spot in Lagos for natural wine and light dining. Inside is a cozy wine bar, outside seating is a calm sidewalk cafe vibe.
The oyster mushroom offered a large heaping portion of roasted mushrooms. Very tender. Sesame sauce is light and bursting with umami and salt. This dish was served cold, not sure if intentional or not, but delicious nonetheless. Will absolutely order again. Perfect for sharing, but the portion was big enough to be an entree on its own.
The grilled cabbage is a light dish and cooked with a slight char. The quarter head of cabbage serves as the perfect vehicle for the salty and sweet pepper and sun-dried tomato romesco. I’ll note that this is a very thick and chunky romesco, not the typical purée consistency. It was almost the consistency of a tapenade. The Parmesan shavings elevate every bite with a little salt. Would definitely order again.
The roasted carrots was another winner. The labneh is subtle and creamy, not too tangy or rich. It actually complemented the carrots quite well and did not overpower the dish. Carrots were cooked fork tender. The pistachios were a nice touch to introduce a little crunch as a distinct textural layer to the creamy labneh and soft carrots. I really enjoyed this dish, but would probably skip next time to try other tapas options.
Five stars, even though they didn’t have either port I wanted to try!...
Read moreI feel a little harsh giving four stars here as this restaurant has only recently opened, but here it goes.
Bread (3/5): was served with a very tiny amount of oil drizzled over it, which meant it was quite dry. Needed more olive oil, or butter, or something. Herbs were nice though
Ceviche (4/5): enjoyed this, great portion size. Taste was good, but again a little dry. Coming off the back of the bread experience into this meant mouth was very dry. Needed some sort of moisture.
Beetroot with Halloumi (4/5): beets were good, perhaps a little bland but texture was nice. Bulgar was good. The issue here was the halloumi, really thin and burnt to a crisp and again too dry! These three dishes in a row being too dry made for tough eating.
Pork Cheeks (5/5): this was a knockout, so so good. One of the best things we ate in Portugal. Great portion size, and the sauce/stew was so tasty. We loved it. Got rid of the dry mouth
Carrot with Labneh (5/5): sensational flavours. Carrots cooked perfectly, went really well with the Labneh and the honey drizzle. Loved it.
Well done guys. I think this place is going to be THE place to go over the...
Read moreWe (two of us) visited for dinner after roaming around the old town in Lagos in search of something on the lighter side, think tapas or petiscos. Travia really fit the brief as we were deciding between here and another spot, and it was so refreshing and welcome to see well thought out and delicious vegetarian options. We started with the olives, oyster mushroom ceviche, potatoes and smoked mackerel, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The potatoes in particular were a huge hit, the perfect balance of salty and sweet with a nice fresh touch. I couldn’t help myself and added on the pork ribs, which came with a mint sauce that was to die for. In saying that though, I was torn between this or another vegetarian dish, a more reckless me would have chosen both, but alas there was only so much space left in our stomachs. 10/10, would recommend to anyone more food motivated like I am. Great vibe inside the bar too and attentive,...
