I’ve been going here since the late 80’s when they opened and their consistency in service and food etc is incredible.
The croissants were never intended to be ‘French’ croissants, nor indeed ‘brioche’ ones, but something unique with a dough that works well with various fillings and has it’s own Portuguese style. So don’t set your expectations on a French croissant as that was never the intent.
I love many of the options but my favourites are ham and cheese, chicken, or tuna and egg. With a ‘galao’ (equivalent to a latte) in the morning it really sets you up for the day.
As mentioned they have stayed true to their vision, they got it right first time. Back in the 90’s this place was heaving with Canadian, American, Australian and British backpackers. I see now that ‘bagels’ and ‘lattes’ have arrived in town. But this place is and always will be one of Lagos’s original ‘gems’. When I visited they were super busy as usual, but they were attentitive and the owners are usually present and working making sure everything is spot on.
Also to mention most Portuguese are spotlessly clean. My family ran restaurants here in the past and we always said if you want to know how clean somewhere is just check their windows and toilets. This place is spotlessly clean and a credit to this city.

Best place for breakfast in LAGOS!!
One important thing to check first...
Check the location by address, not by the map. Google map has problem with the location function about this place.
(I made a complaint about it yesterday, but heard from the owner that he already submitted complains about it but it's not getting fixed for a long time).
Croissant is damn good. Crispy, warm texture goes well with all sorts of fillings.
Tons of Fillings All sorts of fillings you need are all here. The diversity of them makes you a bit dizzy to make your selection.
Owner knows what he makes. His suggestions are trustworthy. If you cannot make your decision, ask him.
Owner speaks English very well
I ate 2 breakfast at this place, and tried to eat my final meal in Lagos before I left today morning, but unfortunately forgot because I was to busy in the morning rushing myself.
It is a place for everyday visit.
According to his FB, business started 30 years ago. I hope it goes another 30...

The owner is unbelievably kind, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s not just a café; it feels like visiting an old friend who’s thrilled to see you again.
And the food? Simply outstanding! The croissants and baked goods are fresh, airy, and of exceptional quality—whether you go for classic flavors or more creative fillings, every bite is a delight. Their savory dishes and coffee are just as impressive, showcasing the care and attention to detail that goes into everything they serve.
