Ok, this gonna be a tough one. I can tell by the behaviour of the man that served me that he (or they, I would include the staff in the bona fide) are putting their hearts in what they do.. but… oh boy.. I went there because of the 4.7 rating, skipping another ramen shop.. what a mistake. I seriously don‘t know what people think ramen is, or if I can trust anymore a review (yes, the irony of it, considering what I am writing now) because what I ate tonight wasn‘t. Broth is just some soulless and tasteless soup, not well identified. Meat is.. below quality standard. And noodles are nothing like japanese or even chinese (lamian): they are way overcooked and fluffy, too dominant to be part of a concert of tastes that a ramen bowl should be. And yet, it has 4.7 stars. It is a mistery to me how. But in all honesty, I paid a fair price, so I think that just cut it. And I don‘t want to appear offensive, it‘s just a reality: food is something else than ramen, that‘s it. The people though, they were very attentive and nice, hence why it is though for me to give such a poor review. Improve your ramen, Basement Bistro, please. You are too nice to have such a failure on your menu! Good luck with everything. Maybe some better music can boost...
Read moreBasement Bistro serves up some of the tastiest ramen in Lisbon. Broth's made to please and satisfy your appetite. This was one of the best noodle soups we've had in Portugal. The setup: a cozy neighborhood fast-casual restaurant that feels like it's placed into a first floor step-down. Limited seating on first floor with a welcoming space below. Walk in and grab a beer as you wait and order from the family friendly ramen maker.
The menu: appetizers, soups and dessert. We chose a Pork Ramen and Beef Ramen along with a side or Gyoza. Any of the broths can be made with a bit of spice... We chose a two for Pork broth and it did not disappoint. The ramen is accompanied by a half egg, cilantro, fish cake, seaweed, bean sprouts and delicious meats (tofu also available ). The ramen noodles are light and fresh, along with an incredibly flavorful broth. The pork was perfectly seasoned, sliced and melts in your mouth. The Gyoza are prepared with an incredible crunch, a bit more heat in the dipping sauce would have put it over the top. This is a neighborhood must try Ramen place in my book. Add a cool Caneca on tap and meal time just got a whole lot better. Planning my return to Basement Bistro to try out their...
Read more— HONEST REVIEW — 6.5/10 ⭐️ More of a noodle restaurant than ramen restaurant. The ingredients and flavouring wasn’t exactly ramen styled. A little bit misleading for people looking for authentic Japanese ramen. Prices were decent for noodles.
The broth was well seasoned and the level 4 spice had a good kick to it and complemented the dish well if you like a spicy noodle soup. The noodles was mid tier at best and it would’ve been nice to change the firmness of the noodles. The tofu was very nice and I would definitely recommended it for the dish despite me not liking tofu that much. The egg was disappointing for the dish since it’s usually well marinated and has a runny yolk. The beef was quite chewy and didn’t bring out the flavour with the noodles.
The staff was incredibly friendly and catered to our services amazingly. The service level was very fast and efficient.
As the name suggests, the restaurant’s aesthetic was very basement like, however the downstairs area looked quite unhygienic and didn’t look...
