TLDR Version: I had high expectations for this hotel, some were met, some were not. I would not likely stay here again. I would explore similarly priced options to see if there is a similar hotel, with the same amenities, but is improved in the areas this hotel lacks.
Long Version:
The room is just ok. The bed is not comfortable. Some fixtures are newer but nothing remarkable. There are two sides to this hotel, one which appears to be a rehabbed older building, and then a much newer building. Unfortunately my room was in the older part. Low ceilings, for example, when in the tub/shower, my hair touched the ceiling, which was just particle board and badly water stained. The tub also had mildew in the grout. The tub/shower combo is also an extreme fall hazard. Yes there are handrails, but more needs to be done. I am quite tall and it was hard for me to maneuver safely, I can’t imagine what people with mobility limitations would do.
There were a few maintenance issues with my room: leaking hose connected to shower head which sprayed water all over the bathroom. The shower/tub did not effectively drain, which meant standing in a couple of inches of water. And the AC could not cool the room down. I submitted maintenance requests for all and multiple for the AC. The hose was the only one that was effectively fixed. They did comp the room service I ordered due to the AC issue. The last night, I wrote a note asking the cleaning staff to leave the key card in the electricity activator saying the AC didn’t work work well, and to leave the blinds closed. They obliged, which helped with the temp.
The front desk service is extremely slow. My keycard deactivated 4 times, requiring frequent front desk interaction. Even when keeping my key card away from my phone, etc, it still deactivated. I went to go pick up my luggage before heading to the airport and had waited 15 min to get it. And then when someone went to the storage room, I pointed out the suitcase, the door shut, and 1-2 mins went by before handing me my suitcase. It was confounding.
How to access the “app” to order room service and other items was beyond confusing. I called room service, reception and guest services upon arrival at 23:30 attempting to order some food after traveling all day. There was no menu, nor information on the TV portal. When i finally connected to someone, after multiple phone calls, I was informed i needed to order via an app, which, after 20 minutes, I happened to find via the confusing TV portal, but did not have the pin code for the app was asking for. I asked how I was supposed to get the pin code, they said they could give it to me. I then asked if i should have been provided that upon checking in, and they said no. Flabbergasted I asked how i was supposed to KNOW to find the app, call for the pin code and order room service without being told any of that. They said you call when you decide you want food. See again almost no ability to get ahold of anyone … Beyond frustrating and a poor customer experience.
The rooftop pool is stunning. The spa services are spectacular and the the jacuzzi/steam/sauna area is fantastic.
The breakfast buffet is quite spectacular. Exceeds many other hotels I have...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Epic Sana Marques in Lisbon, Portugal, and to say the experience was exceptional would be an understatement. From the moment I walked through the grand entrance, I was met with an unparalleled level of service that set the tone for my entire stay.
The hotel itself is a blend of modern luxury and timeless elegance, complete with state-of-the-art amenities that left no stone unturned. Each room was impeccably designed, offering a tranquil sanctuary that perfectly complimented the bustling city outside.
As for the spa, it was nothing short of a rejuvenating oasis. The array of treatments available catered to every whim and need, all executed by highly skilled therapists. The calming atmosphere, infused with subtle scents and gentle music, instantly put me in a state of deep relaxation.
The gym was another highlight, equipped with top-of-the-line fitness gear that would satisfy even the most discerning gym-goer. Whether you're a casual exerciser or a fitness enthusiast, the Epic Sana Marques has something for everyone.
But the crown jewel of my experience was undoubtedly the breakfast. The spread was lavish, featuring a variety of high-quality local and international dishes. Each morsel was prepared with the utmost care, making it a culinary journey in its own right.
What truly sets the Epic Sana Marques apart, however, is the staff. Every team member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Their attention to detail, warm hospitality, and genuine care turned an already exceptional experience into something truly unforgettable.
In summary, my stay at the Epic Sana Marques was an unequivocal joy, far surpassing any expectations I may have had. From the spa to the gym, from breakfast to the superlative service, this hotel has set a new standard for luxury accommodations in Lisbon. I can't recommend it...
Read moreVisited nearly a year ago and forgot to provide a review. Fantastic hotel, my wife and I came here for our honeymoon and it could not have been more perfect! Service was impeccable! Check-in was easy. Our luggage was "automatically" transported to our rooms. I think I recall having a small problem with the room, I think we'd originally requested a higher level, but it was not ready, so we stayed on a lower lever but were easily transferred the next day to a higher level without worry. We were greeted by Kareem, if I remember the name correctly, who also helped us review several amenities and other activities around the city which we appreciated very much! We didn't use the rooftop pool but did visit during the night to an amazing view of Lisbon! We ordered room service on a few occasions and were not disappointed. Even something as simple as a club sandwich was very well assembled. I wished we'd used the spa a bit more often than just the last or second to last day when we did a couple treatment which was absolutely amazing. What was amazing, as well, was the location! We could easily get a quick Lyft/Uber to where we wanted in the city and many of the locations were within 15 minutes. Lisbon is hilly, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. But coming back to Epic Sana at the end of the day to relax made it all worth it. The breakfast is absolutely first-class, as well. From full English options, to custom omelets, parfaits, oatmeal, fresh squeezed orange, watermelon and green juices, coffee, fresh veggies and fruit, a multitude of breads and breakfast sweets (pastel de nata!) Honestly such a variety healthier my gut and provided great energy for the rest of the day! Even the Italian restaurant which was part of the hotel had such delicacies. We have no complaints about our stay whatsoever, and already decided this will be our place to stay for...
