When my Husband and I were booking a Hotel in Lisbon for our 10 day vacation, it was tricky to find a reasonable priced one. We had initially tried to find one downtown Lisbon, so ended up booking a little farther out. The HF Fenix Urban is about a 10-15 min. Metro ride from the City Core and it ended up costing about $183.00/night which is pretty good! ||We had a direct flight from Montreal and I never sleep on the plane so arrived completely baffed. You can take the Metro right from the airport to within a couple minutes walk of the Hotel. Check in isn't normally until 3 p.m. but the wonderful woman at the Front Desk performed a miracle and managed to get us in to a room a little after noon. Bless her heart.||The rooms are great and the House cleaning staff good. There are bath robes, slippers and complimentary water available. There are bar fridges in the room which is always a plus. ||The BEST thing about the room was the wonderful room darkening curtains which totally blocked out light and made for excellent sleeps. There is some traffic noise but not bad.||The one complaint we did have is that the air conditioning system was broken. We thought it was us not being able to figure out how to operate it so we asked at the Front Desk and were told that it was broken and they had to time line to when it would be fixed. Three nights in a row our room was 26C overnight which wasn't nice to sleep in. :( ||I'd totally stay here again but only if the air conditioning was working. You would not want to book in here any later than now before the temperatures soar. ||There is an excellent small grocery store called 'Aldi's' at the top of the street where you can buy fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit, bread, appy's etc. which was lovely and there are a couple of great restaurants right close by. An Italian restaurant called 'Sapor' which serves fresh pasta dishes and beautiful pizzas for excellent prices and a Tapas Bar right across the street called 'A Fama' which we also recommend seeking out.||There is breakfast in the Hotel available for 12 Euros per person per day I believe but we found various nearby cafes that worked out well instead.||There are some other great restaurants within a 15-20 min. walk and the Metro Station 'Parque' is only a few minutes up the street which then enables you to access anywhere in Lisbon very easily...
Read more-In this day and age of social media, companies zealously guard their so called "reputation" against ANY criticism . -Sadly, my first impression of the FELIX URBAN HOTEL in LISBON is also my last impression. ! Me and my wife (part of a travel group) arrived at the Hotel on the evening of Saturday March 16 and checked out on early Monday morning of March 18. Except for the excellent location of this Hotel, IMO, there is nothing "4 star" about it ! The room that WE were in had a sink faucet that did not open and shut smoothly. Result : Every-time, we opened it , the granite surface overflooded with water, posing a safety hazard ! The phone system installed in the room ( probably re purchased / recycled , when it was discontinued in North American Hotels) was not "user friendly " (room to room calls could not be made directly, "wake up" calls could not be booked by calling Reception ( as is usually the case !). -In the Breakfast Room, next day (Sunday) some guests were handed out Survey Forms, some, including us were not ! If I had the Form, I would not be writing this review ! On Sunday morning - before we were leaving on a City Tour - I voiced my concern re: the faulty faucet, and the person "assured" me - after writing a note to herself - that it will be fixed by the time, I returned in the evening.. IT WAS NOT ! ( Later on , I learnt that my room was not the only room with this problem !). Prior to checking out, very early Monday morning, I mentioned this to the reception attendant on duty and asked for a Survey Form . I was told "that Survey Forms" are only handed out ONLY in the Breakfast Room ! And I was not given a Survey Form My saga ends here. I am "sure" that I will receive some sort of tepid reassurance from the HOTEL (We apologize, etc etc )

Read moreGreat location, rooms were ok. All staff on duty was okay with the exception of 2 members. After a long day of sightseeing I came back late to my room (10pm) and had prepare for the next day, which was another early start for another activity. I needed to iron my clothes and there was no iron in my room, so I called the front desk if they can provide one. The gentleman at the desk got annoyed and said “You want an iron AT THIS TIME?” And I said yes, because I’m leaving early the next morning so I have to prepare. He said they don’t have one at this time and will send one up the next day at 8am. I reiterated that I have to leave earlier than that and I need the iron now. He mumbled something and hung up. About 20 mins later he knocks on my door and angrily shoves the iron in my face and says “here”. This was a middle-aged gentleman with salt/pepper hair wearing glasses (I was there the week of June 22-26). He was the night time clerk I believe. I did not expect this reaction, and I think he was annoyed because he had to find an iron and bring it up, which he may not have wanted to do. The 2nd experience was with one of the Lobby Bar/Lounge. We chose a dessert and was told it is finished. We ordered Ice cream brownie or nougat with Caramel sauce. After waiting for 30+ minutes, our order finally arrived with a different sauce. Instead of Caramel it was a Berry sauce. On asking where’s the Caramel, he says it’s finished. So he took it upon himself to substitute without asking us first if we still wanted it. We were not told about the change at the time of ordering, and luckily no one in our group had allergies or disliked the berry otherwise it would been a whole different story. But it was quite a disappointment. Other than that, the...
