Beware of Quality and Service Inconsistencies at this Rodizio!!!
Unfortunately, I recently had a disappointing rodizio experience here, which stands out as my worst globally. I am genuinely puzzled by the high ratings that this restaurant has received.
TOURIST ADVISORY: If you're not fluent in Portuguese, be careful when upgrading your rodizio. It seems there's a chance you may be served cheaper cuts of meat, irrespective of your selected tier.
The salad bar left much to be desired, predominantly stocked with basic raw vegetables and lacking any notable salad varieties. The pão de queijo and bolinhas de queijo tasted stale, possibly indicating a long shelf life, which made the dining experience less enjoyable.
Rather than being buffet-style, the feijoada and rice - which were unfortunately overcooked - were served directly on our table. This method meant that our meals got cold within minutes.
Regarding the meat, the quality was subpar. Unless you have an unusual preference for extremely low-grade cuts, you might not find them palatable. If you're accustomed to the high standards of European restaurants and expect a similar steak quality for the same price, you're likely to be disappointed here. This experience is better suited for those prioritizing quantity over quality.
I soon discovered that I was being served incorrect cuts not included in my ordered rodizio. When I raised this issue politely, I was met with rudeness and even aggression from the wait staff. This was an unprecedented negative experience in my travels to Portugal. Despite my efforts to rectify the situation, the staff remained inflexible, causing my partner and I to lose our appetite. We ended our meal prematurely, requesting the check.
Adding insult to injury, upon settling the bill - with the unappetizing meat cuts still on our plates - the waiter acknowledged his error but only charged us for the lower tier.
To prospective diners: make your dining choices with care and vigilance. The quality of both food and service at this restaurant may not meet your...
Read moreThe manager has his back turned to customers. He was talking excessively with acquaintances. He should have just grabbed a chair and had dinner with them.
Meanwhile my table got passed by many times...and he wasn't even paying attention to how things were flowing in his restaurant. I felt rushed and like they wanted me to hurry and leave.
I also really thought the selection of meats was going to be better and cooked properly. Meat cooking gradients are very important! Hence, the importance of the name, "Rodizio"! Thank God, I enjoyed the meats. However, my mother was concerned about it not being cooked properly, and my certaintly.hmof how it was being cooked well, went away because....
It was all cooked or all undercooked. Which took longer to get the pieces you would have liked at your table. The pineapple tasted like a stale refrigerator. The cinnamon on it was not lightly grilled but just thrown on top and overpowered it was like eating a spoon of cinnamon before eating unflavored pineapple. It wasn't even grilled! Please change the bread on the fried banana it's not Chicken Parmigiano. The breading should have been soft, light crisp, it's a soft banana we are trying to eat and not a piece of meat. Pieces of Meats get covered in heavier breading or more flour... but not bananas!
One more thing that wasn't a gourmet salad bar! I didn't see Brussel spouts, asparagus, and tomatoes, no fruit. Olives were too salty. Tomatoes should have been less ripe. I didn't taste the cheeses.
The brown skin waiter with the longer hair looked more attentive than the manager. He also spoke more than one language better than him.
I'm not sure if the manager is the owner. He should be grateful he has that position rather than abusing his privilege.
Then again, who really knows? I'm just a tourist!
Who walked in wearing a white philadelphia EAGLES sweater and light colored sweat pants...what...

But that's not all - the buffet is simply amazing, offering a wide variety of tasty dishes to complement the meats. And don't forget to try the fried banana and grilled pineapple, which always come at the perfect time to cleanse your palate and get you ready for the next round of meats.
The staff is another highlight of this restaurant, with a super-friendly and funny attitude that makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. They're always willing to help and make recommendations, and their positive energy is infectious.
One of the best things about this restaurant is that the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. While drinks and desserts are not included in the price, they're definitely worth trying as well.
