Dom Alimado — Restaurant in Lisbon

I arrived in Lisbon earlier today, and after a very early start from London, decided to eat here at Dom Alimado, as it’s located within the Jupiter Hotel Lisboa, where I’m staying this weekend.

When I found out that the restaurant has an evening buffet, I don’t mind admitting that my heart sank as I’m not a buffer fan.

However, I was encouraged to go and have a look, and what I say really impressed me, so I decided to stay and eat.

The salad and dessert 🍮 buffet is excellent, with a wide range of dishes, bread and for those with room, enough for a very decent cheese course too.

There are two/three choices for a main course, as well as a vegetarian option.

The dessert 🍮 area is not for the waistline conscious, but well worth indulging nonetheless!

The chefs and kitchen team do themselves proud and deserve high praise, as indeed do the team in the restaurant, who are friendly, attentive and good at their jobs.

The buffet price (as at May 13 2022) is €23 per adult, plus drinks, which I feel is good value, especially as you get unlimited visits to the buffet.

I added a glass of beer and a glass of rosé wine, so my total bill came to €31.80, so I was very pleased.

This is one restaurant I can safely safe deserves patronage, and if you can’t be asked to eat out, the Dom Alimado will not disappoint. I would recommend...

There is a large selection of moderate-to-high quality food. However, sometimes certain foods are left out too long (e.g. pancakes, porridge, eggs) and get hard/cold. My instinct is that the price is quite high for what you get.

The service is friendly and attentive. However, they clear the table too often, and, because they provide small plates, they sometimes clear the table and give it to another guest, having thought you had finished.

Wir haben als Hotelgäste am letzten Abend dort gespeist (hatten nur mit Frühstück gebucht) - 2 Kinder und 2 Erwachsene.

23Euro pro Erwachsener / 11,50Euro pro Kind (bis 13Jahre) + Getränke.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und auch hilfsbereit. Die Kritik der schlechten Englischkenntnisse kann ich nicht teilen. Manchmal liegt es am Gast auch selbst.

Das Buffet war ausreichend und vielfältig mit Vorspeisen, diversen Hauptspeisen und Desserts. Für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei und ist für den Preis pro Erwachsener fair.

Für diesen Preis bekommt man im Restaurant nur 1 Gericht (evtl. plus Vorspeise oder Dessert). Wenn man bedenkt, dass man nach Lust und Laune Nachschlag holen kann.

Unsere Kinder (12 Jahre) haben es auch ordentlich sich schmecken lassen.

Den einzigsten Kritikpunkt gibt es für die Preisberechnung für Kinder. Kleinkinder muss man anders kalkulieren. Hier gibt es bei der Konkurrenz teilweise gestaffelte Preise nach Alter. Schließlich gibt es auch Kinderportionen in Restaurants.

Ob es jeden Abend das gleiche Buffet gibt, kann ich nicht beurteilen, da wir nur 1 x vor Ort waren.
