Will never recommend to anyone. I saw in some reviews the owner responded nothing is free, yes nothing is free we are paying for good food and we have right to question on the quality. We are not paying for the worst food with fake authentic dish names. In one review customer said all the curry has same taste, but owner replied the customer to visit doctor and check the taste buds. Don't be so arrogant Mr.Owner. Be kind to the customer and try to improve the standard of your restaurant. Recently I visited this restaurant on my friend's birthday. I took her to experience the authentic south indian food but finally we both ended up with disappointment. We ordered chicken 65 which was very very bad without spicy and salt. Then next we ordered dosa, the chutney they provided was literally a garbage and any south indian will definitely hate it. They just used the dry coconut for making it. Taste of sambar no words to explain, it was just like a daal tarka. Then we ordered kerala authentic lamb curry, it's not authentic they just exaggerate with the dish names. Such a poor taste just with onion and tomato sauce base curry with no authentic south indian ingredients. If we write this comment the owner will argue with you and never gonna improve their standard. If you can't provide authentic taste just change the menu names as normal dish. Don't spoil the south indian reputation and traditions. May be Portuguese or other non-south indian people like this food because they really don't know original and authentic taste of south india. The price that they are charging for this food is really not worth. Completely overrated restaurant. People please be aware of these kind of fake authentic...
Read moreI ate Indian food outside india after over 6 months. The cuisine of the South, especially kerala, is one of my favorites. Kerala was a surprise in lisbon and has done a great job. The service is wonderful. The staff is very kind and attentive. We ordered a ghee roast dosa. I liked it but for me what it missed a tiny bit was the sourness of fermentation but I am a chef and used to impeccable Indian food plus comparison to my forty years of india off and on makes it hard to not be scrutinizing my cuisine. Next was the meen policha _ banana wrapped fish with a Malabar porota. The fish was really good, but the porota I have had flakier and better. For Mains we ordered a prawn with coconut milk, mild and sweeter notes and pork vindaloo a bit spicy and lacked the acidity of an authentic vindaloo with porotas and so the curries were ok for me not exceptional. For dessert, we had the bibinca and the rose petal ice cream. The bibinca to me was not caramelized enough and ok , the ice cream was delicate and lovely. On the sides, we had pickles, a bottle of white, and a bottle of water. For 2 people, it was 78, a bit high for the food vs. ambiance, yet it was a...
Read moreThis name-sake restaurant is a passionate and sincere portrayal of the culture and cuisine of Kerala, where I hail from. Visiting Portugal for the first time, I was certain there would be some contemporary effort in linking these two terminals of the ancient spice-route map.
The restaurant makes an excellent effort to reflect the Kerala way of life with its authentic dishes, a restaurant display that may fascinate you about life in this small coastal state of South India, as well as the congeniality of the hosts.
There are dishes on the menu that are specific to certain sub-cultures in different regions of Kerala that I suspect some Keralites might even wonder it even existed.
The grub was accurately spicy to my palate. Given the limitations in procuring the ingredients in a land afar, this restaurant is by far the nearest you can experience the contemporary cuisine of a land the Portuguese explorers discovered more than 500 years ago at Calicut.
Overall, I would recommend this fantastic restaurant where there is a lot of hard work put behind the scenes to whole-heartedly achieve the most accurate depiction of a select...
