Mankooche — Restaurant in Lisbon

This has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Lisbon, and it’s easy to see why. From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere draws you in, making you feel right at home. The staff here are simply fantastic—attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it truly enhances the entire dining experience.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The halloumi is hands down the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Every dish is a delight, and you can tell that the ingredients are of the highest quality. The flavors transport you straight to the Middle East, with each bite bringing back memories of authentic, rich, and aromatic dishes. The menu is impressively diverse, catering to all dietary preferences, whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or meat lover. There’s something for everyone, and each dish is crafted with care and attention to detail.

The management deserves special praise as well—they’ve clearly put a lot of thought into creating a dining experience that’s not just about the food, but about making every guest feel valued and appreciated. OMG! Forget the TimeOut Market. Walk right by it and come to Mankooche. We tried to eat in the market but the place was SWAMPED with people. We walked the perimeter for almost half an hour and never saw a single open seat, so we gave up. Then we tried to find someplace for lunch. I saw this place on Google Maps rated 4.5 stars (it should have been 5), so I headed there ahead of our party of six so I could check it out. But I couldn't find it. Every time Google Maps would say, "You have arrived," I could not find it. Finally, I walked about a block past it, and as I was walking back, I saw a little sign that said, "Open this door for the hidden Lebanese restaurant. So I did, and we had one of the best meals on our trip. Their tabouleh salad is amazing, and their mixed grille is divine. If you like red wine, their Douro wine (with the dog on the label) is delicious. The service was superb. We were seated in seconds, orders were taken in minutes, and food was returned in no time. I would go there again...

By far my FAVORITE restaurant in Lisbon! I've lived in Lisbon for several years now and no other place comes even close in terms of taste, service, or atmosphere. I am sending all of my foodie friends there and they repeatedly report that Mankooche serves some of the best meals they've ever had (including my friends from the Middle East). The fattoush and the labneh are to die for! A bit tucked away from the busy crowds (with a serene patio), you can easily access it from a glass door next to Tv. do Carvalho 29. The owner, Marianne, is the wonderful soul of the restaurant and I've never met a more passionate and welcoming person.
