We had a lovely stay at calling||Lisbon. We stayed for 4 nights, the staff were very helpful and friendly.||The area surrounding was very busy and lots of life to it. I would say this property is a mix between a hostel and a bed and breakfast. The breakfast is very limited, just toast or cereal or yogurt. The private bathroom was external from the bedroom (which we knew! but you did have to walk across the hall way/lobby to get to it, which sometimes was awkward- the building is old and really pretty but the soundproofing is non existent, so you can hear everything on the street and in the room next door and in the hallway and lobby. So if anybody goes to the toilet at night you hear the floor boards creaking!||||I would say just bring some good ear plugs. Our room was the blue room and was really lovely, bed was super comfy and big. The room overall was great and could be cool or warm depending on what you want. There is a little window at the top of the door so if you are on the top bunk you can see the lobby and it does let light through - this could easily be sorted with a little blind for night time - I also think a small bin for the room would have been good. The bathroom itself was great with two showers, two toilets and a sink - very spacious and clean! Overall we enjoy our stay with the place being very friendly...
Read moreOur room was huge with really quirky artwork and furniture. Location is great, Time Out market across the road, metro/train station behind that then then you are on the waterfront. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area and a tram stop just a few steps away. ||The communal kitchen is really clean and has great facilities. The breakfast was a perfect little start to the day, toast, cheese, jam, fruits and yogurt. Tea and coffee are available all day. We had a private external bathroom; it was across the lobby but this was not an issue as there are only a few rooms, so the communal areas were always quiet. We were given a key for the bathroom, but we did not bother locking it as the building felt very safe. ||The only downside is the noise. Double glazing does block out most of the road noise but when a tram goes by the building shakes. Other guests can be heard coming in and out, we were lucky that most people were conscious of this. ||Vera was so helpful, she sent us local recommendations and let us store our bags before check in and after check out. For the price this is a great place to stay, in a good location with handy...
Read moreFirst thing to say about Lisbon Calling is be careful not to pass by the door without seeing it, the hostel is inside a normal building without a sightseeing sign. The only thing that tells there is a hostel is a stick next to the door phone. So pay attention at the door numbers. Price and localization were awesome! It is next to a subway station and not far from Praça do Comercio. The right side of the floor is for the shared rooms and the oder side, privite rooms. So for each kind of rooms they have a kitchen and a bathroom. I stayed in a huge private room, it was really big, with a very comfortable bed. Bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast is just a head start for the day, they give one bread per guest a day and in the fridge you can grab milk, orange juice, butter, stuff like these. My advice is: if you like a big breakfast you can use the fridge to store your grocery and use the very well equipped kitchen to cook, it had everything. I would definitively come back to...
