If you're seeking a memorable dining experience in Lisbon, Bacalhau Restaurant-Bar is an absolute must-visit. Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming establishment offers a delightful blend of traditional Portuguese flavors with a modern twist.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their chorizo, clams, and grilled octopus (pulpo). Each dish was a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs and the quality of the ingredients used.
The chorizo was nothing short of spectacular. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, it had just the right amount of spice, balancing the rich flavors beautifully. The clams were a delightful surprise, bursting with freshness and cooked in a savory broth that begged to be sopped up with their fresh bread.
However, the star of the meal was undoubtedly the grilled octopus. Tender and succulent, with a slight char that added a smoky depth, it was served with a medley of vibrant, flavorful accompaniments that elevated the dish to new heights. Each bite was a testament to the careful preparation and skill involved in creating such a masterpiece.
The ambiance of Bacalhau Restaurant-Bar is equally commendable. With a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere, it provides the perfect setting for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening.
In conclusion, Bacalhau Restaurant-Bar offers a culinary journey that is not to be missed. From the incredible chorizo and clams to the exceptional grilled octopus, every dish was a celebration of Portuguese cuisine at its finest. Highly recommended for both locals and...

When I asked the waitress for my bill, she asked me if I thought the food and service were good. I said it was fine - in reality, the food was meh and the service was okay. The waitress then gave me a business card and asked me to write a good review on Google Maps.
It would've been fine if that had been the extent of the interaction. I didn't feel comfortable writing an entire Google Maps review at the restaurant, especially not an honest one. However, she WOULD NOT LEAVE UNTIL I WROTE A REVIEW IN FRONT OF HER. I told her I didn't have internet service and she said she'd give me the wifi. Then she TOUCHED MY PHONE, navigated to the restaurant's profile on Google Maps, and PROCEEDED TO FILL OUT THE REVIEW HERSELF. She clicked 5 stars on everything, from the overall rating to the food, service, and environment - then she handed my phone back to me and stood there until I wrote a few sentences and submitted the review. Absolutely WILD experience. I assume that the manager must be really pushing the waitstaff to get reviews, but that was definitely the most pushy waitress I've ever had.
As for the food itself - for a place called "Bacalhau", you'd expect the bacalhau dishes to be excellent. I ordered bacalhau à brás. The portion I received was smaller than what'd I'd seen in previous reviews of the restaurant, and it was surprisingly bland. It seemed as though there was no salt or seasoning in the dish. The food alone would probably be 2 stars, but the rest of my time here definitely tainted even that lowly experience. I would definitely...
Read moreTucked away in the charming streets of Lisbon, Restaurante Bacalhau offered one of the most genuine and memorable meals we’ve had in Portugal. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, with the tables full and a warm evening breeze adding to the charm of dining outdoors. We started with a comforting carrot soup, simple yet delicious, followed by warm slices of rustic bread that paired beautifully with the house olive oil. The chilled white wine was crisp, refreshing, and just perfect for a summer night in Lisbon. For mains, the star of the evening was of course the traditional Bacalhau à Brás – creamy, perfectly seasoned, and topped with a signature black olive, just the way locals love it. We also tried a hearty beef dish with egg and vegetables basically a steak in Portuguese 🇵🇹 style which was a little disappointment , the quality of beef was a beef fillet rather than a steak so it was kind of a wrong choice. Other than that all other food was good The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful, patiently explaining each dish and ensuring we were comfortable throughout. The overall vibe was relaxed and buzzing, ideal for both food and drinks. If you’re looking for a spot that serves real Portuguese flavours in a laid-back and authentic setting, Restaurante Bacalhau is a must. We left with full hearts, happy taste buds, and a strong desire...
