This is our second night visiting the amazing city of Lisbon. Dinner at the Time Out Market last night was unbelievably disappointing and we really were hoping to have a delicious dinner tonight. But we were tired from a full day of touring.

We’re staying at the luxurious boutique Corpo Santo Hotel and decided to visit their restaurant on the spur of the moment.

Now this was a meal! The limited selection made it easier to make our choices. My wife ordered a salad that was a variation of something on the menu and they made it exactly the way she requested and it was perfect.

I ordered tomato soup and the waiter brought a bowl with a dried tomato and a dollop of cheese in the bowl and said with a smile, “Here’s your soup. ” He didn’t fool me! The next moment he poured a beautiful tomato soup over the items in the bowl and it was hot and delicious and excellent. Even better with the bread variety they brought, which we ordered. The chewy black bread with sunflower seeds on the crust was delicious.

We shared one entrée, which was their breaded cod with a tomato rice, that tasted more like risotto. Again, everything was delicious and visually attractive and served at just the right temperature.

We’re glad we decided to go to our hotel restaurant. Normally we look everything up online and read all the reviews. It’s funny but when you map out our hotel, this restaurant didn’t show up. I found it by searching the name and so I happily leave a...

Horrendous Experience. Obnoxious and full of bigotry against non- EU tourists. Wow - I have never written a negative review in my life. Last night, as we pass by this restaurant we decide to try it out. It looks almost empty and we are greeted with " do you have a reservation?" We don't , but what the hell, maybe the illustrious crowd will appear after 7 43 pm on December 27th. The waiter then consults with his manager and comes back saying "Ok, do you have your vaccination proof?". Of course we do, we couldn't travel to Portugal in December otherwise, we have our 2 Pfizer shots and our booster shots and we already dined in other Lisbon restaurants (some that checked our vaccination cards and others that did not). We show him our cards to which he replies that he cannot accept "non- EU vaccination cards" You mean to tell me that this superb restaurant does not accept tourists from the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, Russia and other non EU countries? Either the person is that dumb or he hates all these non EU tourists to that extent that he is ready to lose their business. Either way, do not give them your business. We ended up at TIme Out Market, where our vaccination cards/passports were perfectly accepted with no issue. I will write to the Lisbon municipality and I will alert other websites and web forums. Totally unacceptable and there should be some consequences to this...

Great Food, Great Drinks, Excellent Service - Is the trifecta you will get at the Porter Bistro in the Corpo Santo Hotel on Rua do Arsenel. The reasonable prices are an added bonus. Christopher, the restaurant’s morning manager, and Jose, the evening manager, are professional, attentive, friendly and helpful and so is their staff. Luis and Weslen, the bar tenders, make creative drinks - I highly recommend the margarita in the ceramic calabaza. As for the food, your breakfast starts with assorted breads, fruits, cheeses and coffee before you even get to the entree. I recommend the Eggs Benedict with salmon. Dinners range from delicious dorado to tasty tenderloin. As a nice touch, small paper bags are on the table for your face masks (hopefully Portugal’s Covid rules will change soon) and there is a packaged sanitizer wipe for your hands. I have been in Lisbon for three weeks and have eaten at Porter’s multiple times - and the food, drinks and service have been consistent. Helpful Hint - Porter’s is near the Corpo Santo transfer station and the Cais do Sodré station. So, start your day at Porter’s and then your adventure in Lisboa or end your day at Porter’s and go for an evening walk along the Av....

We were a party of 4 and out of the 4 mains we ordered, 3 had to be sent back. The seabass - was not cleaned properly and had lots of small bones - one of us had a bone stuck in her throat which ruined her entire night. The veal steak - asked for medium rare but came out well done. The prawn pasta - came out with pasta stuck together and not cooked evenly - the waiter says oh we do our pasta al dente - yes we know what al dente means, and it does not mean pasta uncooked where it’s stuck together. We also ordered bread and they brought out and charged us for 2 baskets. We weren’t too fussed about that but the mains and the service really let us down. At the end of our meal a very young manager came to ask about our experience and we shared it with him, but there was no explanation or offers provided, not sure what was the point of the visit? It left us with a bad impression of Lisbon - very disappointed and felt like a tourist trap. Avoid !
