I'm on a quest to find the very best Pastel de Nata in town, and I've been following the advice of locals to sample these delicious pastries from various renowned bakeries. It's been an incredible culinary adventure, leading me to discover so many amazing places and hidden food gems. And this particular bakery? It's definitely a standout! Their Pastel de Nata is, without a doubt, a must-try. It's absolutely fantastic. The pastry is perfectly flaky and light, providing a delicate crunch that gives way to the rich, creamy custard filling. The balance of flavors is spot-on – just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of cinnamon that elevates the whole experience. It's clear they use high-quality ingredients and time-honored techniques to create a truly exceptional Pastel de Nata. I've been incredibly impressed with the quality and variety of Pastel de Nata I've encountered on this taste-testing journey, and this bakery has earned a top spot on my list. If you're a fan of these Portuguese treats (and who isn't?), you absolutely have to try the ones here. You won't be disappointed! This is definitely one of the best I've had, and I highly...
Read moreVery disappointed. I was on a walking tour of Lisbon, and we stopped at Santo Antonio. A lady on the tour could not buy a Pastel de Nada or even a coffee (she had no money as she was going home), and had a big breakfast like myself. So for friendship...I wanted to make a romantic gesture - and have it cut into two (very romantic), so we could both sample and initiate conversation and advance friendship...maybe more. The waiter refused this with a pathetic excuse that there was no possibility of cutting it into two. Maybe there was not knife in this cafe? What a snotty nosed individual! What bad customer service! A romantic gesture denied. Maybe things could have been different - but I can buy a Pastel de Nada in Lidl and there would be no difference in taste. Frankly this was arrogant customer service from a shop that only works because of the Walking tour of...
Read moreI am reviewing all Pastéis de Nata in Lisboa - this is part of these reviews. Most important for you to know: The Pastéis de Nata Rating is a 6.5/10 on a strict grading scale. The Pastel: was good. The most noticable impression was the dough which was particularly flaky and very soft and thin. In terms of custard, it was particularly eggy (too much for my taste), however, the sweetness was not very sweet at all, it definitely ranks on the lower side of what you would usually find here. It is definitely a very solid choice and the best in the direct area but for my taste, it stayed below expectations.
I want to note, however, that this is at times regarded as one of the best Pastéis in Lisboa. Give it a try in case you pass by - but no need to go all the way here if you are...
