We wanted a “quick” meal after a long day. We waited for 2 hours to receive the food we ordered. Restaurant wasn’t full, everyone in the restaurant wasn’t eating as everyone is just waiting for their food. Everyone looked impatient and disappointed.
Waiter is clueless about what he’s doing. Doesn’t greet customers, doesn’t show where you could sit, doesn’t ask if you’re ready to order, doesn’t give any utensils needed per dish, doesn’t give correct sauces or condiments unless requested, doesn’t update on late orders, gives the wrong orders because he doesn’t ask when he doesn’t understand.
First appetizer arrived fast, simple noodle bowl, flavorless, uninteresting and very disappointing taste (if any)
Waited 30-40 mins for our next appetizer, dimsum. Was okay, but it was served literally only the dimsum, had to request for utensils to eat it with and the sauce. (And the waiter gave me ketchup!! Ketchup with dimsum 🤣)
Waited another 40 mins to get one main dish and rice. 1.5hours later, I had to get up and complain respectfully that we’ve been waiting for a over an hour for food to come. The guy at the counter immediately says - “oh, 2 minutes.” No apologies or explanations. Food indeed arrived within 5mins after complaining.
Overall lack of service. Communication when food is late, when we should expect it, simple apologies when it’s late out of respect, giving the right utensils and condiments per dish, assisting customers overall is lacking.
Will not go back and...
Read moreDue to its good Google reviews, we visited this Si Chuan restaurant on the 2nd night after arriving in Lisbon and having a fantastic day in Sintra in early March. The restaurant environment and the food are generally good, except that it did not take our credit card. However, a few hours later, I had acute food poisoning from the diced Si Chuan chicken I ate (my wife did not eat). About 4 hours later, I started vomiting which continued overnight once every two hours. The next morning, I got and took some Nexium for acid control, however, nausea and vomiting continued after breakfast and lunch, at which time I visited a local clinic to be safe. Luckily, the disease was self-limiting. Due to the food poisoning, I was weak over the next 3 days, thus did not visit any other site in Lisbon as planned.
The last time I had food poisoning was 20 years ago, after some sushi on the Big Island of Hawaii. The medical condition then was similar. I would consider this a huge quality and safety lapse for the restaurant. It is something diners and travelers should...
Read moreI came here on a Sunday night in November 2023, and they were closed! I found out later they were closed due to a foot ball/soccer game.
Maybe I'm from USA, so the dishes were different to me - not in a bad way though. Sliced beef 18€ was different because the beef and onions were stir fried. It still had the same great numbing/spicy taste. The "四季豆" green beans 9€ were named differently on the menu (The waitress said this dish name 四季豆 to me verbally). They were also were shaped like what looked like snow peas to me. Water boiled beef 11€ was good. I got a pitcher of sangria 12,90€ with choice of white wine. It seems like they made it fresh on the spot. Rice was an extra charge of 1€ each. The chongqing noodles 5€ were tasty. This dish actually came out first.
This was obviously too much food for only two people, so we had leftovers that we opted to pack up. The waitress helped us put away the food into take away containers.
Their handheld payment machine did not accept my foreign credit card, so I ended up having to...
