I had a very bad experience. I went a lot of times at the Silk, I live in Lisbon. Last time I went there, they said that I needed a reservation because the bar was full. Every time I went there it was always with the same friend and we never needed a reservation. This time it was with another friend with long hair. I think that's the reason they didn't accept us. One hour later I called them to make a reservation. The doorman told me to come. I was there 10mn later with my friend and when we arrive as he recognized us, he told me that he had no reservation at my name ! He just didn't want to let us go in. He said, if you want to go to the bar you have to buy a bottle of Champagne at 165 euros ! I was shocked but I said : ok ! Just to see. We went to the bar and the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. I told him an Hendricks and a Martini. He called the doorman to tell him that we were not going to buy a bottle of Champagne. The doorman came to tell me : YOU HAVE TO BUY A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE ! I asked him why ? The bar is empty, there was only 3 customers. So we started to discuss and he spend his time telling me, speak not that loud. I was not talking loud, but he was upset because the 3 customers were listening our conversation. So he told me, ok drink what you want ! and he left. The 3 customers told me that I was right and they supported me. They were very shocked too. The doorman doesn't do his job properly. Made reservations for a Saturday night expecting upscale dining with a rooftop view. The view itself delivered, but they apparently lost our reservation (despite receiving at least 2 confirmation emails). They made a big deal of it despite my showing them the confirmation emails and the restaurant being more than half-empty - not a good sign for Saturday at 2030 in beautiful weather. The food was fresh and tasty but just regular sushi and sashimi - nothing unique in the menu I haven’t had many times before. The music was elevator at best creating a dull vibe. Fortunately we cut our meal short and found another wonderful Lisbon rooftop restaurant with live music and a great atmosphere. There are plenty of rooftop restaurants so I don’t recommend wasting time at this one. Maybe the nightclub is better.
So the response is only to defend my fake review suspicion, which is unfortunate. I hope it is not true, but it is known that places hire companies to do just that. I hope my comments lead to improvements. There were several, but the biggest one is that if you somehow lose a reservation and the customer even shows multiple confirmation emails to prove it, don’t treat them like they did something wrong, especially when the restaurant is over half empty. Read moreThoroughly underwhelming. The maître d downstairs was strangely judgemental, giving us a long look up and down and wouldn’t let the people in front of us in. Once we were upstairs things didn’t improve. It took about 20 minutes before anyone would deign to take our drink order. We were asked if we were ready to order yet, but hadn’t even received food menus.
4/4 cocktails were bad. They offered lemon for our drinks, 3/4 of us said yes, I said no. I had lemon thrown into my drink without asking and when I said not for me the waiter went fishing in my drink with the tongs for 30 seconds. He then used that same set of tongs which he had used in my glass (from which I had already drank) to serve the rest of the table and restaurant lemon for the rest of the night. When I asked for a clean glass which hadn’t been molested it came with a new bottle of san Pellegrino for which we were charged €10.
Musical waiters was the theme of the day. There was no warning when dishes came with 2 servings when there were 4 of us and guests were smoking inside.
