Really wanted to love this place because of the other reviews and great location but unfortunately the multiple issues and lack of reliability by the manager made this a bad experience for us. To be fair to the team - The rest of the front desk staff were great and super helpful though!
In our 8 days there, these were some issues we experienced:
2 days of air conditioning not working (opening the windows made the room bearable temperature wise but because it is located above a bar and the manager smokes incessantly right by the hotel entrance, it is noisy and our 3rd floor room reeked of smoke) Fridge not working (had to store our perishables in the kitchen fridge) Another guest who was In the lobby with us had to change rooms because he didn’t get the balcony he ordered and his coffee machine was not working Yet another guest who was also In the lobby with us on a different day had to change rooms because his air conditioning was broken (we later found out from the staff everyone on the first floor didn’t have AC) We Asked for water to still be delivered on the days we left for Porto - we even paid for the room even though we spent the night elsewhere and the manager said “Yes certainly” but it wasn’t delivered. (Not the biggest deal but he did this to us on 3 separate matters over a 7 day period so I feel it’s worth mentioning) Manager also said air conditioning would be fixed within 1-2 hours and would follow up with our room either way - and then ghosted us for 2 days (while the AC remained unfixed)
Overall the place seems to be as shaky and falling apart just like the manager’s ability to follow through on anything he says - for example there were bleach stains on our carpet, the key card reader on the door kept falling off…. The location is great - nobody can deny that so if you can get a 50% off deal here and dont expect much of a stay but just want a place to crash and keep your suitcases then this is still worth a consideration. But I think there’s likely better places to stay and we hope that the wonderful front desk staff we did get to interact with, receive a better...
Read moreOverall, I had a fantastic experience staying at the Carmo Hotel. One of the standout features of the hotel is its excellent location. It's situated in the heart of central Lisbon, which makes it easy to access many of the city's top attractions and cultural landmarks. From the hotel, I was able to explore the historic Alfama district, wander through the trendy Chiado neighborhood, and take in stunning views of the city from the nearby Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Castelo de São Jorge.
Another great aspect of my stay at the Carmo Hotel was the quality of the service. The staff was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. They were always available to answer questions, provide recommendations, or help me navigate the city.
The rooms themselves were modern and well-appointed, with all of the amenities that I needed to feel at home. The decor was sleek and contemporary, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and spacious, with a nice selection of toiletries and fluffy towels.
While the breakfast at the Carmo Hotel was not the most exceptional that I've ever had, it was certainly adequate. The buffet offered a decent selection of breads, pastries, cereals, and fruits, as well as some hot items like eggs and bacon. It wasn't the most extensive breakfast spread that I've ever seen, but it was certainly enough to start my day off on the right foot.
All in all, I would highly recommend the Carmo Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay in central Lisbon. The location, service, and modern rooms make it a top choice for travelers, and while the breakfast may not be the absolute highlight of the stay, it...
Read moreI am so happy I was able to book four nights at Lisboa Carmo Hotel. Everything was extremely clean and the area was quiet. Hospitality was impeccable - I really appreciated all the staff. The room and bed was very comfortable and AC unit was adjustable. My double bed was pretty spacious and I had six fluffy pillows to choose from :) If it was cool enough, you could just open the balcony door/window and let the refreshing breeze in. It was a very stylish room as well, with great furniture design choices to make the room feel upscale and comfortable. I was on the third floor and it had a small balcony where I could oversee the Carmo Square and sunsets. There is a Nespresso machine, mini fridge, and safe for use. They supply free Nespresso pods and a bottle of water each day if you run out. The smart TV is HUGE and easy to connect to any of your streaming accounts. Make sure to ask about the welcome drink if they don't mention it upon checking in :)||The location is impeccable. You can walk anywhere and are super close to the Rossio train and metro stations, as well as the Baixa-Chiado metro. Make sure to walk through the Rossio train station (take escalators up to exit) to bypass walking roundabout stairs if you are tired. You located right by a viewpoint next to the Santa Justa lift and can see just as much of the view for free. There are an abundance of restaurants and...
