I visited Street Smash Burgers - Saldanha a few friends, and it turned out to be a great spot for anyone craving a classic American-style burger. I ordered the Street burger combo - one with regular fries and one with sweet potato fries. The food was really good, with generous portions that definitely filled us up. The fries tasted almost exactly like Five Guys fries, and the buttery bun had a rich flavor that worked perfectly with the burger.

The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a small mix-up with the order at the start, but it was quickly resolved without any hassle. The wait time was reasonable too. The interior is modern and minimalist, with an open view of the kitchen. It was impressively clean, especially considering the white decor. Infelizmente, a minha experiência enquanto colaboradora deste restaurante foi marcada por uma clara falta de consideração pelas condições básicas de trabalho. Há problemas fundamentais que foram reportados várias vezes e continuam por resolver.

Por exemplo, num turno de 12 horas, não temos sequer uma cadeira onde nos sentar durante a nossa pausa. Muitos colegas acabam por se deitar em caixotes ou no chão da cozinha, o que é indigno e inaceitável, porque não têm alternativa. Também não há cacifos ou qualquer local seguro para guardar pertences pessoais — ficam expostos num espaço acessível a qualquer pessoa.

Além disso, não temos onde conservar a nossa comida — não há frigorífico para refeições trazidas de casa. As pausas acabam por ser em cima de cartões, dentro de armazéns, sem qualquer estrutura mínima de descanso.

Estas situações não são exceção. No Saldanha, por exemplo, os colegas comem no chão por falta de condições. Em Alvalade, que abriu há quase dois meses, ficou claro que aquilo que pareciam ser falhas temporárias são, na verdade, problemas estruturais — sem sinal de que algo vá mudar.

Outro ponto importante: não se faz reciclagem. Mesmo em unidades onde existem recipientes que aparentam separar resíduos — como é o caso do Saldanha — tudo acaba misturado no mesmo saco. É uma prática incoerente e ambientalmente irresponsável, especialmente vinda de um restaurante que tenta passar uma imagem moderna e consciente.

Ignorar o bem-estar básico dos trabalhadores e a responsabilidade ambiental não é aceitável.

Espero sinceramente que estas questões sejam levadas a sério e que haja um esforço real para melhorar as condições de trabalho e de funcionamento.
