During my recent visit to "Taberna Anti Dantas," a restaurant recommended by a friend, I embarked on a delightful culinary adventure that left a lasting impression. While there were minor areas for improvement, the overall experience and exceptional value surpassed my expectations.
Although the restaurant had a slight touristy atmosphere, it didn't overshadow the unique journey it offered. The dimly lit ambiance, while not my personal preference, added an intriguing touch to the dining experience. Admittedly, the seating arrangement was cozy, requiring polite requests to adjust chairs for restroom access. Nevertheless, these minor inconveniences did not overshadow the enjoyment of the overall meal.
The menu, although offering a limited selection, focused on essential and must-try dishes. This intentional curation ensured that guests could savor the authentic flavors of the cuisine. While a wider variety of options would have been appreciated, the exceptional quality of the chosen dishes more than made up for it.
The service provided was satisfactory, although there was a slight delay in obtaining a bottle of sparkling water. The staff appeared attentive, yet a touch more dedication to our table would have elevated the experience further. Nonetheless, their presence and willingness to assist added a positive touch to the overall dining experience.
The absence of background music created an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, allowing for engaging conversations and the full appreciation of the culinary delights on offer.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the dining experience was the impeccably prepared octopus dish. Each bite was a testament to the skill and mastery of the kitchen staff, as the octopus was tender and bursting with flavor. It truly showcased the culinary expertise of the establishment. As for dessert, the rosemary ice cream provided a refreshing and inventive conclusion to the meal.
Considering the overall experience, the exceptional value must not go unnoticed. Spending about 25 euros, which included a bottle of sparkling water, for such a remarkable culinary adventure was truly commendable.
In summary, "Taberna Anti Dantas" provided a memorable culinary journey, delivering outstanding value and a true taste of the region. Although minor areas for improvement exist, such as the cramped space and slight service delay, the exceptional quality of the dishes and the affordable pricing make it an excellent choice for culinary enthusiasts.
Based on my experience, I wholeheartedly rate "Taberna Anti Dantas" with 4 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend others to visit and indulge in the unique flavors and remarkable value that this establishment offers.

Have been to this restaurant a number of times because the food is good BUT I don't think I'll be going back again or recommending it to my friends. Let me share these pictures and you can tell me if you think this is how they should treat the people who live in the area. Its not just the sight of it, it is the terrible smell caused by fish blood baking in the sun for days. The first time it happened it frustrated me, the second time took pictures and the third timeI couldn't help but sharing my feedback here. Not only is it illegal for restaurants to use these bins provided for residents of the area, but you are not even using the bins you are putting your stuff on the side of the street for dogs and rats to access it. I've had to personally pick up your fish boxes up out of the street, when the wind has blown them into the street. Do you think that is a way to treat your community?
If you have any desire to fix this Taberna Anti Dantas, I suggest what you do is print a sign apologizing to the residence for the mess you have created (next to this trash area) and say you will keep the area clean for the next month. If you keep the area clean from any mess (yours or otherwise) for the community for the next month, I'll remove this review. If not the review stands because this is a clear indication you don't care about the atmosphere in which you work.
Try be better! Your quality of standard in the kitchen is high, but your chef wouldn't let his/her kitchen be put in this condition, why does he/she (or your management) think its ok to treat our...
Read moreI think I've fallen in love. With a restaurant in Lisbon!
I came in for dinner at around 9:30pm, it had been raining all evening and I was a little miserable from all the walking done previously.
But as soon as I stepped into the place, it was like walking into someone's beautiful apartment. Every detail that was put in here was thought out. It's like walking into someone's private collection of their favorite things.
From the entrance door covered in various buttons to the wallpaper made from real 1950s Portuguese gossip magazine covers.
Now to the food. My server recommended to me the Polvo à Aljezur (Octopus), a creation by the owner (I was told), and I chose the Tataki Salmon for starters.
Another sign that tells you that this is a good restaurant was how busy the staff were, running around serving guests. They did an excellent job making sure everyone felt at home.
The Tataki Salmon, lightly seared and encrusted with sesame and poppy seeds served over sweet potato puree was perfect! The texture was smooth yet a little crunchy, with a little soy sauce combined with the puree was a great mix of sweet and savory.
Then the Octopus came, served over a bed of sauteed garlic spinach and a baked sweet potato and fresh butter. This was a fantastic dish. The Octopus was cooked perfectly, not too chewy but not raw. The spinach reminded me of my mother's version of spinach with garlic, like home. But when you combine all three together, it's like a dance in your mouth. All the flavors coming together were so wonderful.
Definitely worth visiting and absolutely worth the wait. Bravo Taberna...
