“Unfriendly and dirty, never again!” Absolutely disappointing experience. The company booked the Fontecruz Marriot Hotel even if I was attending a conference at a different hotel (EPIC Sana Lisbon, very recommendable) as we have a Marriot membership card and are usually happy with the service provided. First of all at my arrival I indicated Mr. Pedro Delgado that my company had already sent them the credit card authorisation to charge the room as it was a business trip. Even so I was asked to present my personal credit card to block a certain amount, which I absolutely refused saying I had no credit card. Why did we go through all the trouble to send the credit card details in advance? Already the unfriendliness of the receptionist was not the best way to welcome a guest, nor the less with a Marriot frequent guest Card. As I get the room assigned on the 1st floor and the Hotel is on a main and busy street I ask if it is not a noisy room, with a condescendent tone he responds that they have good quality windows installed and there is no noise in the room, not true at all you can clearly hear the heavy traffic. The room is dark and dull, cheap furniture (yes with a designer intention, but just that) and very poor lighting, I had to use my phone light to store and later search for clothes in the closet. After walking through the room I notice that maybe the poor lighting is intended so you don’t notice the dirt and defects in the room… Suspicious stains on the sofa I wouldn’t even dare to leave my clothes on it, undetermined splashes on the wall, tissue box ripped from the wall, the glass panels that divide the bathroom have not been cleaned for ages, you can still see the smeary traces of the silicon I assume from when they installed them (how long ago?), the faucet of the sink hasn’t seen a proper cleaning either and the cover of the shower drain is loose and … oh surprise if you lift it the drain is FULL OF MOULD!!!! Absolutely disgusting and not at all what you expect from a 5 star Hotel at those rates. And now the check out… remember I was asked to present my credit card as they said that the company card authorisation they received was to cover the hotel expenses and not to block a deposit? Well it seems that that had magically changed during the 3 nights I stayed, again I’m asked to pay with my credit card. Again I tell the same person that we had already send the credit card authorisation and before even checking it he answer that’s only to block the deposit. Please do your job, check before giving an answer and don’t respond with whatever suits your lazy and rude style at the moment. As a matter of fact after checking he said it was ok, that he had everything for the payment, he really seemed annoyed not to be right and having to agree with me. Really? Do I have to argue for 10 minutes with someone just because he’s not able to do his job and check an email? That is not at all the treatment I expect from someone at a hotel front desk, rude, unpolite, condescending and unhelpful attitude, please look for a job somewhere away from personal interaction. This has really helped me making the decision not to stay at a Marriot ever...
Read moreWe stayed at 138 Liberdade Hotel in Lisbon, and while the property sits in one of the poshest areas of the city — Avenida da Liberdade, right by Gucci, YSL, and Louis Vuitton — the overall experience was underwhelming.||📍 Location – 9/10|The hotel’s best feature is its prime location. Shopping, metro, dining, and Lisbon’s luxury strip are all within walking distance. Unfortunately, that’s where most of the positives end.||🚪 Check-In & Room Issues|Our stay didn’t start well. We were initially given a PWD room where the toilet was so high my feet were hanging when seated. Worse, the extra bed I had pre-requested and prepaid for (two weeks in advance) wasn’t provided.||After raising the issue, they did change our room (in fairness), but it was smaller.||The VIP welcome wine and pastel de nata included in my booking was forgotten — only provided after I reminded them.||The bathroom design was disappointing: no bathtub, no bidet, and an awkward open layout with no proper partition between the toilet and shower. The sink was strangely shaped, and the overall dark black décor made the room feel gloomy.||🥐 Breakfast & Snacks|Breakfast was basic buffet-style with some hot dishes available to order. Unfortunately, while the plating looked good, the taste and quality were more 2/5 — not on par with Lisbon’s excellent food scene.||Snacks were offered 24/7, but choices were limited to pastel pastries, often left out with flies around, which was unappetizing.||🍷 Service & Hospitality|There were repeated lapses:|- No extra bed initially,|- No welcome wine and tart until I insisted,|- A welcome drink letter with a typo, addressed to another guest!||The one bright spot in service was Paulo, the shuttle driver, who provided insightful history during the free hotel-to-airport transfer. His warmth and knowledge were a refreshing contrast to the rest of the experience. Also Diogo who helped us moved from the initial room we were placed in which I honestly think was a mistake from the concierge who checked us in. My family heard him say we're in room 208 but he gave us room 205 key.||✨ Overall|While 138 Liberdade boasts an excellent location, the experience fell short of expectations for the price point and area. Service felt inconsistent, amenities were lacking, and the overall comfort level just wasn’t there.||If you want to be close to Lisbon’s luxury shops, this may work — but if you’re seeking a true 5-star Lisbon experience with polished service and memorable dining, there are...
Read moreOur family of 2 seniors and 1 adult stayed at the amazing 138 Liberdade between the dates of March 31st to April 6.
Here is a brief report on this hotel.
Hotel:
The inside of this hotel is a calm oasis from the busyness of Lisboa. We wanted a quiet, tranquil hotel for our home base in Lisbon. The inside of the hotel is new, clean, 5 star quality, and hi-tech.
It's AMAZING. There's nothing more you could wish for
