Lovely hotel, good size rooms, nice bar area and friendly staff. The only issue we had during our two night stay (and it was a big one) was that our only full day there we put the "Do not Disturb" sign on our door since we were going in and out of the room at irregular intervals. Also we wanted to take a nap before continuing our travels the next day. We told housekeeping that we didn't want service that day and requested coffee for the next morning, which the housekeeper gave us. Later, when we came back to the room for our nap, there was a card from the hotel at our door noting that the hotel takes guest requests "very seriously," and therefore they respected the "do not disturb" sign on our door. Then stated "Should you wish to have your room made up, please inform the Reception."
About the time we got to sleep, the room phone rang and it was the young lady from "Reception" asking us if we wanted our room serviced. We were exhausted, and, of course, no rest for us. I told the young lady who called that we had already established we wanted to skip service that day, and that we had read the note, and if we had wanted service we would have called. She just said, "Okay."
I thought in that moment that when I wrote the review for the hotel, I would have to rate it 4 stars instead of 5. When we were checking out the next morning, the same young lady was at the front desk when my husband told her about them not honoring the do not disturb, i.e. the phone call. She was not particularly apologetic and basically shrugged it off with a "oh, sorry about that." It was clear to us why she wanted to down-play the incident since she is the one who called the room. As I paused to write this review, I think 3 stars is appropriate due to her lackadaisical response to our complaint. We understand there can be a problem, or staff are not properly trained - but it's how it's handled that ultimately matters to the customer. If she had shown concern or regard for the customer's issue, it would have been totally different. We won't be back to this hotel for only...
Read moreWe did not stay at this hotel but were immensely impressed with this hotel’s staff and services. To make the long story short, our passports were pickpocketed along Rua Augusta and were threw away by the thieves and this hotel’s guests found them on the road and gave to this hotel’s staff. The hotel staff namely Patricia was so kind to look for anything within the plastic envelop holding our passports to find clues to contact us. Patricia even phoned the police station to try to help us but was told the process would take very long. So Patricia phoned our previous hotel in Algarve (because there was a hotel invoice inside the envelop) and then we were informed by the Algarve hotel to get in touch with Patricia to collect the passports. We were still waiting at the police station when we received the news. I think our experience was miraculous that pickpocketed passports could be regained within a few hours, with help from this hotel. Please be alert to pick pocket especially when you are wearing backpack during rainy days. We are deeply grateful to this hotel’s staff and found it to be at central location. So next time if we come to Lisbon again, will definitely consider it to be our...
Read moreI googled "quiet Lisbon hotel" and this popped up at the top of the list. I was a little concerned because it said it was a historic property (read: older), but decided to go for it and very glad I did! We stayed there four nights and heard light traffic noise just one of the nights. Nobody walking in the room overhead, nobody taking a shower next door... Just quiet serenity. :-)||But wait, there's more. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Though it was 90% the same items every morning, there was plenty of variety (eggs, meats both hot and cold, veggies, fruit, breads, cereals) -- and the yummy pastries did change slightly each day.||The Metro Blue line is just one minute away, and I loved returning from sightseeing to Jorge, the doorman/porter, always ready with a smile. ||The only thing that took us days to find was the Kleenex (tissue). It was hiding in the same drawer as the hairdryer because it had slipped all the way to the back. That's a strange...
