Read moreWas told to go to matinhos by a local and try the sardines even though I absolutely despise them. Walked by and saw this restaurant was grilling a bunch of them so knew this was the spot to try. Ordered 1/2 dose of sardines (6-7 pieces) and the monkfish and rice. I was blown away at how good the sardines were with the crispy salty skin. I honestly thought I'd have one piece and then be done but I couldn't stop eating it. The monkfish was a huge bowl filled with shrimp also and was made for sharing between 2-4 people. If I went back I'd just get the sardines. Staff were very professional and kindly put up with our terrible Portuguese. 😅 We likely won't come back because our time here is too short, but I do...
