Salta o Muro is a hidden gem in Matosinhos that captures the essence of Portuguese coastal dining. This family-run restaurant offers an authentic experience, serving fresh seafood in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The menu is a celebration of the sea, featuring daily catches prepared with simplicity and care. From grilled sardines to octopus rice, each dish showcases the natural flavors of the ingredients. The accompanying sides, like the well-seasoned potatoes and fresh vegetables, complement the main courses perfectly.

What sets Salta o Muro apart is its commitment to quality and tradition. The staff, including Sr. Moreira and Jorge, provide exceptional service, making guests feel like part of the family. Their knowledge and passion for the cuisine enhance the dining experience.

While the prices reflect the quality of the seafood, the value is undeniable. The generous portions and exquisite flavors make every euro well spent. It’s advisable to visit more than once to explore the diverse offerings on the menu.

In summary, Salta o Muro is a must-visit for anyone seeking genuine Portuguese seafood in a cozy setting. The combination of fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and heartfelt hospitality ensures a memorable...

This restaurant was recommended to us by our airbnb host. All I wanted was some sea bass and I got exactly what I wanted and then some. We came as soon as they opened for dinner and was seated immediately. This place is small in space so it's not good for large groups. Our orders were taken quickly and they brought out the most amazing chorizo bread. 😋 And then came the main dish. The sea bass and potatoes. My friend was dying to try the sardines. We were advised to eat them last because of the strong taste. That advice proved to be good. Ohhh and yes, these were the best potatoes that I've had in Portugal. From what I've read about this restaurant, it's owned and operated by a family. I got that family feel and I just know my food was cooked with love. Both my friends said they weren't really hungry and both cleaned their plates. You won't go broke eating here, either. I most definitely recommend this restaurant and I hope to some day...

Salta o Muro, is not probably but surely the best restaurant to have some real food in Porto. I'm Portuguese but I'm writing so that y'all foreigners start giving decent and honest restaurants your money instead of pretentious crap you can find in your own countries.

True Portuguese restaurant from aesthetic to food. And the food. Just, go inside and ask for Rodovalho, the potatoes with the green sauce and the legumes... They'll get your mouth drooling for more. And above it all the nice lady that cooks it all. As any Portuguese place, there's a woman performing magic in the background, she is the queen of the place, and all you eat is thanks to her. The employee and man beyond the counter are an integral part and the only remaining living homage to Portuguese culture. True people, serving real Portuguese food. A...

I walked around the entire block checking out all the restaurants and eventually landed here because it was recommended to me. At first it did not appear to be interesting because their grill is not in front of the street like the other places. However, it’s been the best meal out of my 8 days in Portugal. I wish I could have eaten here everyday. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious and juicy but very simply prepared. I also appreciated that it was a no frills type of joint unlike the other restaurants that invested in fancy dining. In that sense, I found this restaurant to be very charming. Finally, our meal was very affordable adding up to about 30ish euros. Our server was very kind which I appreciated a lot.

2023 0909 We travelled all the way from Heroismo to this restaurant recommended by a local contact. We had lunch and came away rather satisfied. Although, I must say, I was over enthusiastic with a double order of grilled Lemon Sole for two light eaters. Nevertheless, we did finish both whole Soles! We were given an outdoor table, which was relatively cooling although the sun was shining. A chilled glass os SICAL beer helped cool things down well. I did not opt for my usual choice of wine with a meal. Service was efficient and friendly. The dishes were served in due time and we had a great seafood meal, this day.
