Tasquinha do Polónia — Restaurant in Matosinhos

Ordered: sardines, crab and wine. Sardines were Ok, a lot of bones and a bit bitter, nothing slecial but wanted to try smth fresh & local. Very disappointing was a crab. It was in on the table between the fresh fish on ice and I have ordered it (thinking it is fresh and will be cooked). The waiter brought it cold, the crab was boiled before and smelled not very tasty. It has some cream in the body which has weird taste (like smth fermented or spoiled mayo). The crab by itself ofc doesnt have a lot of meat, that is why I hoped for some good taste but not an old cold stinky crab, especially when you Pay. The wine had a strong aftertaste of alcohol but was still Ok. The personal has very bad in English. It took to long to cleam our table, so all the flies were coming to our fish and the crab was smeling while we were drinking the wine. I regret...

Watch out. It is rather expensive. First of all, we haven't even sit and on our table there were olives, bread and crab paste. MMM... So nice. But not for 8 EURO. In other restaurants, it is usually for free. For a main dish we ordered seafood acorda... we cannot comment as we did not read before what it is (but for sure not worth 30 EURO). The service was in general nice, except for the woman serving us (she was not engaged at all, she did not know any word in English and finally she had just thrown cards with the desserts on our table which was not nice at all). There was also a problem with getting a bill as she was interesred in...

The grilled sardines were great, even in March.

The service was great but with one caveat: They bring out crab pate + bread + olives to each table that sits without asking. This is common in Portugal and you can usually just ask for it to be taken away so that you won't be charged. Here, I politely asked, "Can we say no to this?" and the waiter ignored my question and walked away. In total these three extras add about 8 euros to the bill. I learned to be forceful with my next refusals.

My friend had the veal chop and was very disappointed by it - way too salty. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for seafood...
