Ateliê do Sal — Restaurant in Ourém

We are in Fatima for a couple of days and we have had food from Atelie do Sal TWICE. The chef is AMAZING and you can see that he really is passionate about food and cooking - the food is so tasty, that the slight wait is definitely worth it. First day (3rd Jan) we were there around 21.30 but they still accommodated us (even though they close at 22.00). I am vegetarian but still managed to find simple but tasty stuff for myself. My husband had steak and he said it was awesome. We just now got a take away for dinner on 4 Jan. The host is super sweet (language was not a barrier even though we dont speak Portugese and she does not speak much English).

They appear to be very kind people, so the kid is also very gentle! God bless the whole family!

Unfortunately because this restaurant is understaffed, we waited more than 1.5h for our food- we were NOT informed of a wait time as when we arrived we were the 4th table at the restaurant- the next tables came 30 minutes later. 2 of us ordered medium- well done new York strip steaks that came very rare and the other 4 in our group ordered pork ribs, but everyone received dry pork chops. This restaurant has great potential but is very limited when they have only 1 Waitress and from what we saw, 1 chef. When we left, there were 3 new tables, all who also waited very long for service. Ontem, por volta das 18h55, fui ao restaurante Ateliê do Sal, em Fátima. Ao chegar, encontrei mais duas famílias aguardando: uma com quatro pessoas e outra com três. No local estavam a dona/gerente (não sei exatamente o cargo, mas era quem comandava) e duas garçonetes em treinamento.

Eu estava sozinha no momento, mas meus pais chegaram logo depois. Como éramos três, pedi para sentar em uma mesa de quatro lugares, para termos mais espaço e conforto. A solicitação foi atendida, mas percebi claramente, pela expressão da dona/gerente, que não foi algo que ela aprovou com simpatia.

Sentamos e pedimos as bebidas: meus pais pediram vinho e eu, drinks. O nosso plano era jantar no local, que parecia ter cortes de carne excelentes. No entanto, rapidamente começamos a nos sentir extremamente desconfortáveis.

A dona/gerente, que orientava e acompanhava as garçonetes novatas, foi diversas vezes às mesas das outras duas famílias (de estrangeiros, não brasileiros) para oferecer auxílio, perguntar se estavam satisfeitos com o ambiente e a comida, e se precisavam de algo mais. Na nossa mesa, porém, ela não apareceu nenhuma vez para fazer qualquer tipo de atendimento semelhante. Como o ambiente é pequeno, ficou visível que ela estava evitando a nossa mesa.

As garçonetes em treinamento foram educadas e gentis, mas ficou nítido que a responsável não fez questão da nossa presença. O clima de indiferença e exclusão foi tão incômodo que decidimos não permanecer para o jantar.

Outro ponto: havia uma garrafa de água já na mesa, que pensamos ser cortesia (“água da casa”), mas no fim foi cobrada a €4. Atenção a este detalhe para não ter surpresas.
