Cafe Gabero — Restaurant in Porto

Im not understanding the wonderfull words people are saying about this place, we were treated like dirt and the food was nothing near fresh. The Man that seams to be the owner was very rude, when we sat down he came up to us and said the words 30 minutes, we are not the worst people asumed that he ment that thats the waiting time to get served and orderd 2 francesinhas, (because in Porto that should be a save option anywhere). After almost an hour asking if the food would take allot longer we finnaly got served. The bread was hard as a rock, I could crumble it between my fingers, just before we got served I saw that the sause came from a pot that you can buy in a local supermarket and the taste was awfull. We had a bit and desided to complain. The man and the older woman from the kitchen started to shout at us and created a scene. He let us pay for both dishes because (according to him and tripadviser) they have the best food in the region. Be save people and take your money elsewhere if you want some service. Btw a vegetarian francesinha with tuna.... thats...

Terrible!!!! We were treated very badly, I'm not sure if it was because I spoke English with my husband or because they are just rude. (But we are local) We had to wait an hour for our food when it arrived our fransisinhas were not fresh, bread was old and saus from a supermarket pot!!! We gently tried to make a remark and the owner and I guess his wife started shouting, still had to pay the full amount of special beers and the food with only having one bite... We left starving and very angry.... The burger a view meters further was allot more affordable and at least eatable. Bad service bad food and ambients not special at all.... No reason for a return and an adv Advice for you to...

I discover this place two years ago and every time I come to Oporto I can't leave without visiting it. People are very simple and pleasant.
