Might have stumbled upon our best meal while traveling here at Rapido. We were lazily walking through the alleyways from the River up back toward town and saw this very unassuming store front with an understated menu, but it had plenty of meat and seafood so we decide to pop in. Right when you walk in you are hit the smell of authentic cooking like you walked in your grandmas kitchen. You look over and see tables of people laughing, talking, ordering another bottle of wine and pouring drinks for their friends. We knew we stopped at the right spot.
We got some melt in your mouth oxtail, sea bass, delicious cabbage soup and a red wine recommend by the waiter and we couldn’t have been happier with our meal. Good food, great ambiance, and plenty of wine all while striking up great conversation with the table next to us. Truly great experience.
Might be smart to make appointment because we almost couldn’t get seated, but truly grateful they accommodated. Next time will reserve ahead of time just to be safe.

Read moreNice local restaurant beside Sao Bento train station. We were lucky some tables were available without reservation as there were a lot of reserved tables. We took the offer of the day ‘bacalhao a Gomes da se’ which was an excellent choice for a reasonable price (14€). As first plate a fish croquette (1,2€) was nice and with the main we ordered a mixed salad (5€) on the side. For dessert we can recommend the ‘bolo de bolacha’ which was a cookie cake and tasted very nice. The plates of food were sufficiently large and we were glad we found this nice restaurant that due to the works near the railroad station was a bit harder to find. Service was nice and friendly, the clientele was all Portuguese speaking and several of them seemed regulars here, however there was no problem ordering and communicating in English with the restaurant personnel who were very attentive to all customer’s needs! This is an excellent restaurant that we would recommend and gladly visit on a...
Read moreThis place was independently recommended by two different locals from Porto for meat based dishes. We showed up and they were all booked. So, we managed to sit at the bar. And I tell you what a great decision it was to go there! The goat dish I ordered was the tastiest goat dish I have ever had in my life. The rice was cooked with fat and meat in it much like a biryani. But I think the magic was the quality of the ingredients that contributed to the greatness of the taste. We also had octopus and it was again outstanding. The dishes were so good it brought back memories from my childhood as I was chewing it slowly. Growing up in a small town with access to local farms I had a lot of good quality meat. But it has been a long time since I have had anything that tasted like back then. Meat doesn't taste the same especially what I buy in the US. Thanks for such a great experience and serving quality food at affordable prices. This place will be on my list every time I...
