Horrible Experience â Terrible Customer Service
The food here was decent, but unfortunately, thatâs where the positive experience ended. The real issue was the appalling service from what I believe was either the owner or bartender (I'm not sure of her role). After we paid our bill, we asked to cancel a soup order that had taken 20 minutes to arrive. Instead of resolving the situation professionally this person swore at me in front of my children.
Hereâs a breakdown of our visit:
We ordered drinks, appetizers, pizza, and pasta. The food was average, but the timing was all off. Our dishes came out at different times, and I was left eating my pasta alone while everyone else had their meals. After waiting for 5 minutes, I asked our server about my dish. He seemed confused but assured me it was coming. Another 8 minutes later, it finally arrived.
My son was still hungry so we ordered a soup, expecting it to be a quick and easy dish. That was a mistake. After another long wait, we asked to cancel the 6 Euro soup since it had taken far too long. The bartender told me she couldnât cancel the order, and when I explained the situation, she told me not to "raise my voice." I asked her calmly to either remove the pasta I had to eat alone long after the other food came out or to remove the minestrone soup that we had been waiting for.
When I asked why I had to eat alone while everyone else was served, she blamed the kitchen, saying there were only two cooks at 6pm. Fine, but the service was still unacceptable. She could have easily accepted the error for the server and apologize to fix the problem.
As I mentioned above the worst part came when we paid the entire bill and were leaving. I was almost out and the bartender swore at me in front of my children, which left me absolutely stunned. I actually turned around and asked her if she had said what I heard to be sure. And she admitted to it. To be treated that way as a paying customer is beyond belief.
Overall, this place has a lot of potential with its food, but the terrible customer service and total lack of respect for guests made this an experience I wonât forget â for all the wrong reasons. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of coming here...
Read moreOsteria di Porto is a wonderfully unique Italian Restaurant in Porto. Besides the amazing food, the restaurant space inside is a hidden gem. It is spacious and with incredible acoustics where you can hear everyone at your table. Every time we are going out to catch up with friends or for business meals, we only eat/gather here because we can hear everyone at the table without effort.
THE FOOD - I'll start with the Pizzas because they are incredible. I've eaten a lot of pizza in Porto, and hands down this is my favorite. It is the closest we will get to Naples here in Porto. I've eaten Minestrone soup my entire life, but not like this one. It is a non-traditional minestrone, packed with fresh vegetables, pasta, beans, potato and topped with freshly shaven Pecorino Romano Cheese. It is - out of this world! The pastas are delicious - my favorite being the Gricia and Tagliatelle al Ragu - but - they are all wonderful. What makes the restaurant even more special is the owners and staff who go out of their way to make your dining experience happy and delicious.
I am third generation Italian American. I come from a line of amazing cooks; honestly, my grandmother was a magician in the kitchen, and everything she cooked was unbelievably delicious. My parents owned restaurants in Connecticut so I know the hard work that goes into daily restaurant ownership and the challenges of delivering quality meals at reasonable prices.
Osteria Di Porto - Thank you for delivering amazing, quality Italian meals to the...
Read moreIf you have kids, this is not the place for families. We were looking forward to eat at that place; we had a table outside and we had a young toddler that liked to run around and play outside. That may have be disturbing the vibe of the restaurant maybe but itâs a young child (2yo) not a drunk customer ( I was also supervising my kid all along, walking around with her )
When my child went by the window, the owner rushed to the door and I was told to MANAGE my kid on a very very rude/arrogant tone. A condescending way as she(owner) only saw us as ÂŤÂ dumb tourists with child   . There is also a way to talk to people especially after spending hard earned money to eat in your restaurant (90-100usd$) As also an owner of a restaurant, I wouldâve never talked to a customer or tourists that way even If I know I would never see that person again.
-Only positive is that the waitress was nice. -Food was meh or didnât looked good since I asked my food to be packed and eat at the hotel to MANAGE my kid, sorry. Didnât even know what I was eating since it all looked like nothing we ordered So my food was all soggy and cold, I threw almost all of it in the garbage .
Donât take your location and tourists passing in front for granted.
Thank you for the experience , would not...
