Literally just left what is looking like a piece of heaven. Beautiful garden, settings, nice crowd. But what a "service." First of all, my order was taken after someone who came in after me, secondly my tea and cake weren't served after 50 minutes. Thirdly, after asking a waitress what was happening with me order, I was told the previous waitress had forgotten about my order and her shift was over. No problem, I go back to my seat, she said she would bring me my tea and cake. After 10 minutes, the waitress comes with someone else order ! So rather than hurrying up to serve me and apologizing for forgetting me completely, I had to wait some more. Unbelievable. Absolutely zero service. And here I am drinking a coffee and cake next door for a total waiting time of 3 minutes. Never again! Yet I am here for several months and was going to bring my friends and family. What a disappointment, food looked amazing and the garden is a...

Fantastic for lunch and tea + cake. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food has a 'homemade feel' not a 'it looks good but isn't special' kind of meal - it looks fantastic and is even better.

good for kids as well, as the food is healthy (and delicious! ), you have to pass the hallway to be on the sidewalk/cars are quite far away. Very friendly staff, there are small chairs which are perfect for kids, too.

If your child is a bit louder and you fear that it might disturb anyone, first of all - we've all been that loud once so don't worry, 2.: there are two small tables with a bench (2 adults max per bench space I would say) plus a small chair (great for kids) right when you've passed the inner space. The garden - which is fantastic- would be right behind you but separated.

With kid or without - fantastic food + great atmosphere and...

This place is mostly for the atmosphere and the decoration. It is an absolute travel across Asia. Influence from South-east Asia, from Japan, from China, from India.

It is a nice tea house. They have delicious and great teas, a wide offer. And there is a tea shop next to it where you can buy your favorite blends.

Only thing is staff is rotating too much, like one different person every month sometimes in shorter period. They don't have vegan options, and they take too long to serve you.

Once they run out of teas and vegetable milk, so whole family had to leave right after sitting. It is those things you can notice management is bad.

And you will notice that it is empty most of the times. And the reason is because of that I believe. But you shoul definitely visit it...

Absolutely loved this place ! I was at Porto just for a weekend and had some work to do because of exams approaching and I couldn't be happier for this café. The girl that took care of me was adorable and made me feel at ease, the food was awesome, especially the mozzarella bread was to die for and the ambiance of the room was very motivating with all the posters and books around. The only thing that could be better was that my tea got cold in the first 15mins or so, even if it was in a sort of kettle which I would expect to keep it warm longer so I would just have wanted to drink it warm. Not dramatic just thought of mentioning for future improvement 😊

Rato do Chá is a true gem in Porto! I visited with my sisters, and from the moment I walked in, I felt right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the decor is charming with such attention to detail. I have really appreciated the treatment we have received especially the kind lady with such warmth and genuine kindness. She even spoke English, which made us feel even more comfortable. It was such a blessing to spend time here, especially on Jumuaa. Thank you, Rato do Chá, for making our experience so memorable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and unique spot in Porto!

This was a wonderful place. It was definitely a hidden gem. We got the menu do dia of vegetarian spinach quiche and the other of codfish casserole. The food was a bit underwhelming (though the quiche was VERY good), but the service, space, and tea selection all made up for it. I got the Tiger Spice chai tea. It was great, but you should note that it comes from a powder blend that's available in their shop. It's not handmade from loose leaf tea. Definitely check out the upstairs beyond the restroom if you go. It's a beautiful space that's we'll decorated in an eclectic fashion.
