This is was a visit to a restaurant should be like. It is so rare these days, even in a much hight price range.

The place has a pleasant vibe, it’s tastefully designed, and maintained even the historic well. It embeds the history and tradition of Tomar with Indian culture and just feels harmonious and natural. The waiters obviously care about their jobs and make you feel welcome (i suspect it’s a family business).

Once you are sat, the real fun starts.

In the most positive way, and in the best tradition of Indian cuisine , an assault on your senses begins.

Presentation is beautiful to feast your eyes, the smell, and obviously the rich complex taste and textures.

My friend and I were in the restaurant twice (thank god the castle was closed early on our first visit so we had to come to Tomar again…). We both agree that this is up there with the best restaurants we have visited.

They excelled in everything. Mains (Jalfrezi, the lamb Biriyani) starters and desserts. I wonderful experience i will not forget.

In the end as we were paying, they even allowed us to take photos of the kitchen, see attached.

Do yourself a favour, visit Tomar, It one of the best destinations i have had the pleasure to visit. And when you do, please, don’t skip this Indian...

We stumbled upon Star Curry Kitchen while exploring Tomar, and what an absolute delight it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel completely at home.

We began with the chicken tikka starter, which was perfectly spiced and beautifully tender – a fantastic start to the meal. For mains, we shared a wonderfully aromatic chicken and prawn biryani and a rich, flavoursome lamb curry. Every dish was clearly made with care and authenticity, packed with bold, balanced flavours that took us straight back to our favourite curry houses in the UK.

What truly stood out – beyond the excellent cooking and friendly service – was the incredible value for money. The quality of the food, the generous portions, and the low prices left us genuinely impressed. It’s rare to find such a perfect combination of flavour, service, and affordability, especially in such a charming town.

I’ve eaten thousands of Indian meals around the world — from London to Delhi — and I can confidently say that Star Curry House in Tomar has served me one of the most delicious and authentic Indian meals I’ve ever had. This place is a total surprise: not your typical holiday dining choice, but absolutely unforgettable once you try it.

From the moment the food arrived, I knew I was in for something special. The flavors were rich, deep, and perfectly balanced — every bite packed with spice, soul, and authenticity.
