Veras' House Restaurant — Restaurant in Tomar

Very busy, had to wait in line for about 15 minutes for a late dinner at 9pm.

No one speaks English! You must know how to speak Portuguese from this village because when I spoke to them in Portuguese, they couldn't even understand me. Encountered a huge language barrier despite being Portuguese. Wasn't a very welcoming environment to outsiders/tourists.

Half of the menu was not available! They didn't have any beef so couldn't have the bifanas, bitoque and quite a few other meals. They only had seafood available.

The snails were easy to eat with the toothpick they provided but it was excessively salty that I couldn't finish the plate. The shrimp tasted fresh but beware it comes with the head. The sangria tasted very good!

It took a long time till the waitress took our order. She also forgot to give us a beer we ordered. She didn't give all of our food at the same time. We got the shrimp platter (which is cold) first, then 15min later we get the snails (which is hot) and another 15min later we finally get our plate of french fries despite most of our seafood being all done.

Charming place! It has just a few seats available and this is probably a plus since it allows them to cook the food the best way possible and express all the love in every single plate they serve. The food here is just like mum or granny would do! The food is incredibly tasty and they have a fast service. To make it even better, the location close to the city park, the river and most of Tomar landmarks make this restaurant one of the top picks im Tomar.
