Esplanada do Teleférico in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, is an absolute gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. Located along the stunning Douro River, this establishment combines breathtaking sunset views with exceptional features that make it a must-visit spot for anyone in Porto.

The first thing that captivates you upon arrival is the restaurant's incredible views over the Douro River. It's a sight that will leave you in awe and create a magical ambiance. As the golden hues paint the sky, you'll find yourself immersed in a serene and picturesque setting, making it the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening.

This place's vibe is all off. Low ceiling, rickety floorboards, LED strip lighting on the ceiling - most of which was off or broken, mirrors on the the walls, the outdoor seating is pretty uncomfortable and the awning doesn't extend across the full patio so if it rains, expect to lose your seat. (This is for the safety of the staff which is completely valid)

We came at sunset and they were blasting house music (which I love) but it made it hard to hear people at my own table because the entire place is parallel flat surfaces - plus the typical crowd is in their 50s and none of them seemed to like it. That's a shame because the location is perfect. It overlooks downtown Porto and would be the perfect place for a quiet evening nightcap before heading back down into town.

Little love goes into the food - the Patatas Bravas were...fine. Think bar food in America or the UK. But you'll be paying tourist prices here - €16-30 for a bottle of wine that you could get for much cheaper at a wine shop a few blocks away. Cafe drinks like tea and coffee are much more affordable.

All in - meh. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless the weather was poor and you really wanted the view. Instead, I'd grab some drinks and sit with the locals in the (free!) outdoor park that overlooks the city five steps away. If this place were to work on its vibe - think cute cafe overlooking a beautiful Portuguese seaside city rather than overpriced tourist trap euro-club - it could be amazing! You have the perfect location. Now put some...

During our trip, we had the pleasure of visiting a fantastic restaurant that not only boasted breathtaking views but also served up some of the most delicious food and wine we’ve ever had.

The restaurant was situated in an ideal location, overlooking the beautiful city of Porto. The view was simply stunning and definitely added to the overall experience. The ambiance was cozy and inviting.

We ordered a plate of Pastel de Bacalhau, which is a traditional Portuguese codfish pastry, and it was phenomenal. The pastry was perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling was rich and flavorful. It was fantastic.

The highlight of our night was undoubtedly the wine. Being in Porto, we couldn't resist trying some of the local port wine. The wine was expertly paired with our meal, and the flavors complemented each other perfectly. It was an out of this world experience, and I highly recommend it to any wine enthusiast.

Great location for just about a 360 degree view of Porto, Rio Douro, Gaia and the Dom Luis I bridge. Cocktails look amazing and they have 2 beers on tap: Lagunitas and Heineken. Food looks really good, especially the meats and cheeseboard that was delivered to the table next to me. I had the Morro Burger (pictured) which was very tasty. The service was very good and it was surprising to see only 1 guy (with blonde hair) that was taking all the orders, and clearing tables, and bringing out the food and drink - it was impressive to watch 👍 This is the perfect place for watching a Porto sunset - or just admiring the view - whilst drinking a glass of Port wine, a cocktail, or a beer. Very "Instagramable" food, drinks and views. It also has an indoor area as well for Winter or when weather turns bad. It is a mere 2 min walk from Jardim Do Morro metro stop. So it's a great first stop to take a break, look out over the city, and map your journey.

All in all a good place to meet the sunset and have a couple glasses of port wine or a cocktail. But keep in mind that you will have a very long wait for your order from cocktails to food. We ordered two salads and the waiter girl asked us several times what kind of salad we wanted, we said and pointed our finger in the menu what salads we wanted, she wrote it down. In the end we waited an hour, and it turned out that she did not put in the base of our salads to start cooking and at the same time she was proving that we did not order it. Very impolite, they brought out our salads right after I expressed my dissatisfaction because it was evening we were sitting on the summer terrace and we were cold and we waited an hour for nothing. She did not apologize to us. The place is nice but the impression was spoiled by the staff.
