Bossman's Burgr Factory Romana — Restaurant in Bucharest

I had to take-out one of the US-Style Bacon 5 Cheese-burgers, the Fried and Battered Pickles, and the Sweet Potato Fries, and two of the house bottled beers.

Good things – the business is open very late; a tourist who screws up dinner times can still get a take-out at 23:15. The floor staff were polite and helpful, by the standards of Bucharest. The restaurant interior is trying to do something a bit unique, and I can’t fault them for that, even if it’s not to my taste. The side of battered pickles was pretty tasty, and if made with a lighter batter, could be even better. The additional sauce in the take-out bag was a nice touch.

Bad things – My food was completely cold after just a 4 minute walk back to my hotel. It was a hot night, so the weather couldn’t have been a factor in this. The beef patty was okay, but the bacon wasn’t crispy, the lettuce was wilted, and the bun was just nothing special (a brioche bun would have been better). The final product I received didn’t look much like the pictures on the website.

Coming in at around 140 LEI, relative to other meals I’ve had in Bucharest during my stay, this take-out was very expensive. I ate in 15 restaurants during my trip, including the two highest recommended restaurants, and the latter two were 35 – 50 LEI more expensive, for a two course meal, and the same number of beers (two). The reason I gave 2* are the following - and I will start with the good things 1st: The guy who took us to the table offered us good seats/table (we were 6 ppl and it was a bit hard to accommodate us all); The overall environment is nice and it was a very good music (my taste 😉).

The things that the owner should work on: We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our order!!! 😳😱 So better eat from home! We didn’t do that and even the conversation with our fiends was not pleasant anymore on the empty stomach !!! They told us it will take 50 minutes cause they were “full house”, but still… 1h & 40 minutes 😱 It was very cold inside (we were hungry & trembling 😂) - it was warmer outside, cause they have heaters - do keep ur jackets on (we went exactly when’s it was -3 degrees C outside); When we initially called to book a table of 6, they told us they do not do reservations, but when we reached the location and took a table of 6 they told us is already booked !🤔🤥 We found a table due to a very nice guy there, but…?!? The burgers are ok-ish and a bit too small in comparison with what they are commercializing & prices a bit too high, and, to tell you the truth, I had better ones! The potatoes were not having any taste (I suppose they were those kind of frozen ones), only the cheese was giving them some taste!

SO, all in all, The Burgr Factory is a bit overestimated - this...

First thing you should know is the wait for a burger is 40-70 minutes. It's posted as such but you won't see it until you complain. It wasn't busy when I ordered but it took almost an hour. It's also pricey. My pastrami burger was 69 Lei.

Is it worth it?

Well, they are big. I might have a more favorable opinion if I only ate half. Perhaps if you split it? The pastrami is decent. It has some flavor but it's definitely not American pastrami. As others noted, the beef patty is salty. Too salty for me. This is not the only burger I've had in Romania that was too salty so maybe it's a regional preference? The bun is not my favorite, either, but I could see others liking it. Got a bit of egg flavor to it. Reminds me of an oversized diner roll.

The staff are personable and came outside looking for me when I was fed up with waiting and the burger was finally ready.

A more explicit warning about the time frame would have made my experience better. But to be fair, I'm pretty sure I would have walked out if they had warned me.

Maybe I was expecting too much? Maybe I was in a bad mood from the wait I wasn't prepared for?

It was OK. Worth a visit if you have the time. It's a nice enough place, clean, modern and peppy ambiance. I will not return, though, simply because for my taste it isn't worth the calories. But if you...
