Smokareala Texas BBQ — Restaurant in Bucharest

Huge disappointment, quite pricy, we left annoyed. We were not even hungry to begin with on a Sunday evening at 7 when we remembered how recommended this place was. It was empty when we went in and we should have noticed that and left. They only had a food menu at the bar, no pictures, and no menu for drinks, you chose from the fridge and find out the price later (around 2o lei a beer, then). We were thinking of the brisket, but it was 100 lei for a tiny portion, so we chose 2 different types of "tacos", around 50 lei each, and a "sandwich". The 3 tacos per portion had some very very tiny slivers of meat, lots of ketchup and some pickled red onion, and were altogether super cold and very sour and extremely extremely small. The sandwich was better as it had at least more bread, a common type of bun. The portion of tacos was 200g! The potatoes were also cold and not tasty at 17 lei. No soap at the clients' sink. They came directly with the machine to pay by card, we were given the detailed bill only after we paid, so we could not have challenged it if necessary. We only spent like 30 minutes in there from start to finish, for 80 lei per person!! We left annoyed and I personally had an aching stomach after all that vinegar. As we left a very young couple having probably their first date was being served similar tacos and she was visibly upset. At least they were offered the famous sauces,...

This diner was such a pleasant surprise. At first glance, the modest décor didn’t raise our expectations, but the glowing reviews convinced us to give it a try, and we’re glad we did.

We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered, especially the vegetarian side options, which were flavorful and satisfying. While some portions stood out more than others, everything looked appetizing and well-prepared. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. Their passion for food and care for the customer experience really warmed our hearts.

The space was clean, spacious, and neatly maintained. The open kitchen overlooking the seating area was spotless, always a reassuring sign. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive, which they informed us about in advance due to a high volume of orders. For us, that’s a good sign: it means they’re in demand.

We gave 4 stars because, while the food was enjoyable and the experience lovely, there’s still room to elevate things further. A bit more attention to plating and garnish could make a big difference, and a few small tweaks in terms of flavours would take the dishes from great to truly memorable.

Overall, we had a wonderful time and would happily return. With just a touch more finesse, this place could be fantastic. The total came to 370L for 3...

Went with a friend in order to try out the place and we were not disappointed. First of all if you go there chat a bit about the food because you can get good recommendations, me and my friend got something to share so that meant we tried 4 different things at a reasonable price. The meats are up to perfection and you have sauces on the side, they are very juicy ranging from the ribs, pulled pork, brisket and another thing that we had. They know what they are doing and it is definitely American style. These were some of the best meats I have ever had. Beers were amazing, craft Romanian beers and quite diverse, you will need to ask more about the beers but I promise it will hit the right spot if you like artizanal beer. Place is a bit small so I would advise booking a table. Staff is very friendly and the music is fun and goes well with a good conversation.

Ps forgot to mention they have amazing sauces on the side, really really tasty and you can experiment with all of them and have the with fries, just stunning! Pickles are also great but the sauces just elevate...
