Yokari — Restaurant in Municipality of Olaya

I love the posh ambience of this restaurant. Their Ebi tempura is the best. Fried rice is authentic Japanese taste. The Tuna sashimi melts in your mouth. Although they could have been more generous as the order only has 2 slices of tuna. They fail on the ramen for me. The broth has some weird sour taste and the Noodles used felt like an instant ramen noodles you can purchase out from the supermarket. The egg is just a typical hard boiled egg. They coild have at least marinated it in soy to make it look like tamago.

The service though is great. The Filipino waiters were accommodating as they took time to tell us more about the restaurant. The Indian manager was also apologetic when we mentioned our feedback.

Lastly the price is on a high scale, typical of a Japanese restaurant especially that it is inside a posh mall. We thought to ourselves that if the prices were at least 20% lower, it could have been perfect as there are similar Japanese restaurants in Riyadh that offers great food with...

Honestly in the past I was enjoying Japanese food mainly outsitecof the Kingdom - e.g. Daitokai in Cologne which was a good restaurant in the past but in this time no more acceptable due to the absolute outstanding bad service - as I never ever have expected such an outstanding good Japanese restaurant in Riyadh. I have to say my partner and me was absolutely impressed by the perfect friendly and professional service as well as perfect - taste, quality and freshness - food. Everything was to the point the salmon carpaccio as well as the tomato salat or themain cpurse - Wagyu and Sea Bass as well as the Sushi - I recommend the melted salmon. Really easy and wonderful reservation experience.

Good food but nothing really stands out. A good well executed marinated yellow.

The wagyu nigiri didn’t come together as a single perfect bite. The meat was bit thickish giving a slight minerally chewy taste masking the flavor of rice and dressing.

The sliced beef with potato puree was good but nothing exciting, nothing you cant get at any chinese takout (minus the potatoes if you care about) . Mashed potatoes + beef thats it ?

The date cake is always amazing here for sure. However for some reason they served it with plastic spoon !!
