Terrible service
When I arrived alone at 17.00 for an early dinner I was told to find my own table.
As I walked around I saw the place was full and returned to the front, where waiters were standing.
None assisted me.
I did another lap of the tables and came across a table for 4 that had just been vacated and was still dirty.
A waiter quickly approached me to tell me to find a smaller table. I asked him where, he shrugged and walked off.
A lovely couple sitting nearby said they were about to leave and I could have their table.
While I waited for the staff to bother getting their bill, no one asked me why I was standing in the middle of the restaurant or suggested other seating options.
When the staff finally took payment from the couple, I sat down at the table while it was being cleared and looked at the menu.
At first I didn't realise it also had English descriptions because it was printed so small I could barely see it. It was also covered in something sticky and half of the back print had rubbed away.
I choose my items and waited to be served.
And waited. And waited.
I needed to use the bathroom and wondered what service would be provided to ensure my table wasn't taken while I was away. But it turned out I didn't need to worry.
Finally someone came to take my order, but things didn't improve as somehow the restaurant had no lettuce salad as listed on the menu and no alternative garden style salad to eat with my cevap.
After all the waiting and poor service to get this far I just wasn't prepared to eat something different to what I wanted or give them any money for making me change my order...
Read moreI don't find the service to be particularly friendly here. I went here twice and both times, I didn't feel welcome. I'm Asian and I felt at times like the staff found that funny, as if it was some kind of joke.
The food itself is okay but you have to pay for all the sides, even yogurt (which many other places include). Once you add everything up, it is expensive for Belgrade.
The baklava was terrible (but I've been spoiled by the ones I've had in Turkey). Just very sugary in a way that was not subtle, dense, and sloppy. The coffee was so-so.
At the end of the meal, the water said to me "service is not included so I am charging you this." The dude charged me an additional 200 dinars or something like that without even giving me the chance to add my own tip. I've never seen anything like that and nowhere on the menu did I see that tip was a requirement. Just odd and gave me a weird feeling.
There are much better cevapi places in Belgrade. I was really hungry both times I went but honestly, I would probably advice people to give...
Feb 2024 It is hard to tolerate flaws when someone is usially that good. This is why I honestly must mention: Veal flakes tasted nothing like veal. It had strong, mature taste like an old (grown) beef, and it was overcooked (dry and chewy). Kajmak (that they dare to put in the main intro text written by the owner) was a scam, but a big one. I could not care less if some farm scammed them, or they knew what they are buying (and serving), but the snow white thing I found on top of my food could be best described as capuccino foam. It had no taste, no texture, it was 100% foamy, and did not malt on hot meat at all.
May 2023 Only getting better! They added a perfect beef soup, and a few other items to the menu...
Interior is cozy, home-like, and staff is warm, friendly, and professional.
old * Big-balley truck drivers, and long-distance hungry travellers - do not expect to get fed up easy and cheap. Still, food is perfect! Somun-bread is a piec e of art (never the less meat portions include bread weight, and you cannot choose to have a...
