Our family of 5 adults and 1 child ordered 2 sour cabbage soup, 1 fried salmon, 1 pork knuckle and 1 traditional potato dumpling with sheep cheese and a portion of fries on the side. We managed to share everything with each other. The sour cream cabbage soup was a bit warm for my taste, would have been better if served hot. The traditional potato dumpling was creamy and tasted nice but a little more bacon would have been more fulfilled. The pork knuckle is average. The fried salmon with creamy sauce was tender, complemented well with the asparagus and grilled baby potatoes.
What I need to highlight from our experience was the service. Our attending waitor has provided one of the best services that we have seen throughout many of our trips across Europe and probably unrivalled in Bratislava. The staff is really a people person, made very good eye contacts, showed patience and a true connection with customers. He made a mistake in one of the orders and gave us a beer on the house. This level of people oriented service I have only seen in Dublin, Ireland. Eventhough we do not know his name, we would like to wish him all the best.
Lastly, I’d like to talk about the atmosphere. This narrow street is a true gem, just off the historic Michalská ulica. Sitting here under the night lights, enjoying traditional Slovak dishes, you almost feel transported back to medieval times. We originally planned to dine at Meanto, but it was full. Without hesitation, we crossed over to Century Pub right opposite. They offer similar traditional Slovakian dishes with charming outdoor seating. Under the night sky, with the soft glow of streetlamps and restaurant lights, it was truly a beautiful experience, romantic, timeless, and...
Read moreThis restaurant is located in a small alley. We arrived there during lunch time and immediately got a table outdoor. We went there on summer so it was really nice to eat outside🌞 the waiter was friendly and he can speak english (important for tourists). We wanted traditional Slovak food🇸🇰 so we ordered pork "goulash" with homemade bread🐷, dumplings with traditional sheep cheese & bacon🧀🥓, and kofola.
We were interested to try kofola because we heard it tastes like coca cola. In my opinion, it's kinda true, I could taste the similarity between kofola and coca-cola. They're both carbonated soft drink but kofola is less sweet and tasted a little bit herbal🌿 (and original from Slovakia!).
The food arrived in around 15 minutes. First of all, they looked so good and appealing. I loveeee the goulash😍 it was my first goulash and I love it immediately (I highly recommend it). It was so tasty and the pork was tender. I could even just eat the bread with the soup. I'm not really a fan of the dumplings. It was just okay, not special. It was creamy but not tasty enough for me.
Overall, I recommend this restaurant. The portion size was okay. The dishes are inexpensive and worth the price. The restaurant looked good and their bathroom was also clean. Definitely...
Read moreWe had passed this location a few times and it seemed to have a more local flavour to it than others. We decided on dinner and for the most part were not disappointed.
We started with a few beer and ordered the Homemade Crackling Spread with bread. The spread just seemed to be lacking something as it did not have the full flavour we were anticipating.
If you want to enjoy a cocktail or a beer, hold off ordering your main until you are almost done - they come quickly.
We ordered Szegeding Goulash and the Chicken Noodle Soup. There’s not much to can do with chicken noodle soup and it served its purpose admirably. The goulash was excellent. The local wine was good and generously poured.
Service was with a smile and English spoken well. It is a bit tight sitting along the wall however worked...
