Upon checking out, the owner explained that this was a family business with connections and a history in the building industry. I could well understand, as the rebuilding work to convert the upper floor of this restaurant into accommodation must have been substantial, and certainly the work was well done - it has produced upwards of a dozen small “pods” for sleeping, though not much more is possible, given the size of many of these. Very enterprising of the owners: maximising return, while still offering good accommodation at a competitive price. Very comfortable, very clean and air-conditioned, but I must say again - particularly in my case, with a single room - tiny. I am good in small spaces, but even I was feeling a little claustrophobic by the end of my two nights. There was just enough room at the end my bed for my case, but an friendly staff member swapped me to a double for the second night, so that I could put my case on the other bed.||While some of the larger rooms had their own bathrooms, the rest of the bedrooms have the use of two shower-toilet rooms, which again, were small but clean, with showers functioning well. There was even a basin in the hallway from which guests could enjoy filtered drinking water. Security seemed very good, with entry to the upper-floor accommodation area by electronic fob. Rooms had cupboards (no wardrobe or hanging area, at least in min) with combination locks, although mine was broken. Last but not least, each room had good sized wall mounted TV. ||Good as all this was, my primary criticism was the lack of real hospitality. The staff attending to the B&B guests are the same as waiting on tables downstairs, who always seemed terribly busy with their restaurant duties. This probably accounted for the fact that I never had the feeling that I was actually welcome. When I wanted to check in, or ask a question, I hovered downstairs and hoped that one of the staff would note my presence and ask if they could help. Most of the time they did not, and I had to “interrupt” them in order to get assistance. In my opinion this is a fundamental flaw, and is something a manager could change - if they were aware of it, or wanted to. It doesn’t make guests want to hang around. ||With the price that their guests pay, perhaps management assumes that customers won’t expect or notice a warmer welcome, but this one did! Only one woman - the aforementioned one who swapped my room - had the right idea. ||So, mixed feelings about this one, good as the accommodation itself was. And if you’re at all claustrophobic, this place is certainly...

The restaurant has a small garden, which to be honest lacks the magic, that would usually convince someone to sit down and eat something. But then again, Eipprova is usually quite crowded so if you don't mind the crowd and you are not annoyed by strange decor you will most likely enjoy the whole experience. First thing we noticed once we were seated is that there were only two servers and we were sure that we would have to wait for a while to get our food. But luckily, the restaurant was not that busy during out visit, so waiting time was not that long. Their menu is nice even though we did not completely understand the concept of serving burgers, ribs.. etc. and on the other hand offering schwarma, which is an egyptian dish. We decided to try out their classic burger and beef steak with the side of fried potatoes and La Chouffe beer. Burger was tasty, meat had a really nice smokey flavor to it and it was evenly cooked. Maybe we would prefer different buns because the ones that were served were a bit to heavy for our taste but nevertheless they were fresh and tasty. Beef steak was cooked to perfection! It was nicely medium rare and it was seasoned perfectly. BBQ sauce was ok maybe it could be a bit thicker but flavors were really nice. Fried potatoes were exceptional! In our opinion they serve some of the best fried potatoes in Ljubljana! If you are a barbacue lover and you are in Ljubljana you should definitely pay...
Read moreA hidden gem in Ljubljana. What a great GF restaurant. We stumbled across this restaurant and ended up eating here both nights of our stay in Ljubljana. The first night we had the baby back ribs which seems to be there most popular dish (followed by the steak) and the mushroom risotto. I have never liked ribs as they are usually smothered in a sticky, sweet sauce. But these were absolutely amazing, smoky, tender, heaps of meat and so much of it too. The risotto was beautiful too. The next night we tried the carpaccio and the Egyptian salad and their home made bread rolls. Again, beautiful meals and very big. The waiter was lovely and quite shy, but he did explain the meals to us and we had wonderful service. We sat outside and it was busy both nights with people being turned away or waiting. The prices were really reasonable as well and they had a good selection of drinks. It is just outside the Old Town, near the river and there are...
