I’ve never written a google review before but I simply have to after our dinner experience at JAZ by Ana Roš tonight. From the moment we sat down we were greeted by 2 chefs, and our wonderful bartender who would take care of us the rest of the evening. We ordered quite a lot of food but the meal was paced very well. The standout dishes we tried were the white fish ceviche, roast beef, langoustine pasta, and sea bass entree. While everything we ordered was amazing, these 4 were exquisite and wonderfully executed and balanced. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and everything on the plate including the garnishes positively contributed to the flavor profile of the dish. The roast beef was tender, perfectly seasoned, and was served with some super tasty bread. The langoustine pasta was my favorite dish of the night and totally blew my expectations out of the water, the raw langoustine was fresh and the perfect addition to the house made pasta and incredible sauce. The sea bass was prepared and presented beautifully, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the salad and mushrooms served with it were amazing. We ordered two desserts, both exceptional and a great end to our meal. We were mistakenly served the wrong dessert (super simple mistake) and the bartender gave us a free cocktail to make up for it which paired beautifully with our sweets. We also ordered several cocktails, all of which were super creative, tasty, and contributed to the amazing evening we were already having. The Pink Beauty cocktail was incredible and prepared and served very uniquely. The service was impressive to say the least and every service member was welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and seemed to care greatly for their craft. The concept of “young dining” is super fun and the restaurant is beautiful, intimate, and curates a laid back vibe while also serving exceptional food. In general I can’t speak highly enough about our experience at JAZ, it’s a standout restaurant in Ljubljana and highlights elevated traditional Slovenian cuisine while also harmonizing international flavors and influence. It has been one of my favorite restaurant experiences ever and if I’m Ljubljana again I will make an effort to have a dinner at JAZ. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant and can’t...
Read moreI booked this place days in advance with excitement and thrill about the experience and the fact that I’m visiting one of Ana Ros’s restaurant. Invited a foreigner person to the restaurant, giving him the hype of the new level of cousine you can find nowadays in Ljubljana (as to present myself as a good “host”). Unfortunately, the evening went in all directions, yet pleasant in no way. The waiter didn’t know the menu well, especially the wine list, yet when he had to serve us the wine, he made sure to open it away from us and him trying it first instead of us. But ok, we thought that was it, yet this was just the start. After we were told that our table can be reserved for 2h maximum, we finished waiting 1h35min to receive the main dish - being told by the kitchen that they have lost our “ticket”. Not to mention we had to ask the waiter where our food is, as so much time has already passed. From that point on, in order of 5min, we receive the main dishes, out of which 1 was completely burnt and salted too much (cod). The chef from the kitchen arrived to our table to apogize, explaining that they got confused by the orders, as 3 tables ordered completely the same dishes. How could you be confused by orders when there is the smallest menu possible with such small variety of dishes - I would assume people ordering the same thing would be a common not rare thing in a restaurant like this. Not to mention that the restaurant was small and at that evening wasn’t full. The restaurant carries a name “Me” by Ana Ros and I hope this was really a disastrous exception of what Ana Ros should...

The New Year's Eve dinner at Restaurant Jaz in Ljubljana was, unfortunately, disappointing. Although the restaurant is known for its fine cuisine and innovative dishes, I feel the dinner did not meet expectations, considering the price of the dinner and the reputation of chef Ana Roš, who curated the menu.
Unfortunately, the seventh course was the biggest disappointment of the evening. The dough puff, which we tore with our hands and dipped into cream, was not appropriate for a New Year’s dinner. This dish was too banal and simple, and the taste did not match the level of the rest of the evening’s dishes. Instead of ending the evening on an elegant note, we felt like we were at a children’s birthday party. This dish simply didn’t fit with the rest of the dinner and was not worthy of the evening itself.
During the dinner, we also noticed that the waiter didn’t change the glasses after each wine change, but rather poured the new wine into the same glasses. Given the price of the dinner and the standard expected from a restaurant with such a reputation, whose menu is signed by a chef with three Michelin stars, I expected more professionalism and attention to detail.
Ratings:
Food: 3/5 – While some dishes were tasty, the rest of the dinner didn’t live up to high expectations. Ambience: 4/5 – The restaurant’s ambiance was pleasant, but nothing particularly exceptional. Value for Money: 2/5 – The price of 300 EUR per person simply did not justify the quality of food and the experience we had.
