This place makes me very sad, so much potential is wasted. The big problem is the beef tacos. We ordered them and they were stone cold and tasted old (vegetarian taco was also cold). Mexican tacos should always be served hot.
In contrast, the pork quesadilla and fish taco were actually amazing, they reminded me of my time in Mexico. Because of this we didn't originally complain, when I told the owner afterwards (only mentioned that they were cold) after he asked what I thought, he seemed shocked that the tacos were cold but didn't offer any compensation (we did not ask for that of course, since we did finish them but it would have been a nice gesture).
Now what Really makes me sad is that after leaving the restaurant, I checked the reviews. There I found out that the beef taco has gotten negative reviews for years, everyone says the same, they are cold and old.
So the owner acts shocked even though he knows that this issue has been persistent for years (he knows because he replies to most of these bad reviews). I find this kind of behavior a real shame and borderline manipulative. It makes me sad to see how they don't seem to truly care for their craft, especially because the tacos are quite expensive. They know they are trendy and make enough money so they don't fix their problems. It's a real shame because some items on the menu are amazing and rightfully deserve a good review, I hope this restaurant will fix their problems and show that they truly care about Mexican cuisine. Until then, don't visit this place, the 4.7 rating is...
Read moreGood, but not great tacos.
Tortillas are pretty good. Refried beans were dry and mostly bland. Too much filling in general, and the menu is a little repetitive (for vegetarians, anyway). Sauces are good but a little runny.
Not a bad option for a change, but not close to what you would get in Mexico.
Edit to respond to owner:
Thanks for the response.
re: being close to Mexico -- the produce used at most of the taco places in Mexico is very straight forward, conventional produce. Yes, very fresh -- and very cheap. But not particularly special (especially as they need to have prices that work for the locals).
We saw & tasted lots of very delicious, fresh produce at the markets around Ljubljana. Of course, I don't expect the food you serve to be the same as in Mexico, or at the same price point. But I think there could have been a better use of that local produce. If you look at what Sanchez is doing in Copenhagen, that is something you could also be doing. I don't expect the same level of cooking at your price point (it's not possible to do food like that in most markets). But for example, using the abundance of peppers grown in the region to do a take on rajas con crema (Alex Stupak does a rajas with shishito peppers that is comparable to the best we had in Mexico -- recipe is in his book "tacos"), or using baby kohlrabi, cauliflower, the amazing tomatoes, mushrooms -- and the diverse fresh cheeses we had across Slovenia. There's a lot for you to work with there, and I think you could do a great job of it.
Cheers & good luck...

The previous guests did not remove their plate so we sat there with the dirty plates of them. My beautiful girlfriend went inside to place the order. (you can only order at the counter) we ordered the nachos two sangrias and two times 3 tacos. You then got one of this buzzers to get the food if its ready. She came back with no drinks beacuse we had to wait for them. on request than the guy from the counter came to remove the old plates from the table and clean it. After approx 15 minutes the buzzer rang i went to the counter but only got the sangrias. we waited and drank the sangrias, they where tooo sweet, I'm not sure they were made with real wine or just a siroup. after another 20 minutes we asked on the counter how long it would takes and if maybe something went wrong with our order because people ordered after us already had ther food. he said it could go another 40 minutes!!! another couple next to us noticed this and cancelled their order 5minutes later they finally managed to provide the nachos another 15 minutes later the tacos. apart from nachos the food was not good. would not...
